Milwaukee Fire Department battles building blaze

VIDEO/PHOTO: A fire early Monday, June 17 at a building near Muskego and Mitchell led to a quick response from the Milwaukee Fire Department. Fire crews tell CBS 58 that the entire building was engulfed in flames, prompting a defensive approach to combat the fire. They say it took MFD around 45 minutes to get the flames under control.

Appleton Fire Department responds to industrial building fire

PHOTOS: A fire at Appleton's Pellet America caused more than $100,000 in damage to the building and its contents early Sunday morning. Smoke from the building on West 2nd Street on the city's westside could be seen for miles just after 8 a.m. Sunday. A section of that street was blocked off while emergency crews worked the scene.

Calumet and Winnebago County authorities team up for rescue after boat takes on water

VIDEO/PHOTO: Authorities from Calumet and Winnebago counties teamed up on Saturday afternoon after a boat on Lake Winnebago started taking on water. At about 4 p.m., authorities responded to the Brothertown Boat Launch for a boat with eight passengers, six adults and two children, that was taking on water a few miles away from shore.

VIDEOS: Police officer, witnesses rescue driver from burning semi in Utah

PHOTOS: Last Monday morning, a fiery rollover crash off state Route 210 in Little Cottonwood Canyon closed the road for hours. Witnesses didn’t think anyone could have survived the explosion, but one Unified police officer ran into the flames to make a daring rescue. A supervisor from the Unified Police Department identified officer Wilson from the Canyon Patrol Unit as the hero who rushed in to rescue a driver pinned in the burning semitruck.

17 Years Later: South Carolina fire department to honor 9 firefighters killed in Sofa Super Store fire

Heat dome brings potentially historic temperatures to most of the nation

Milwaukee earns top insurance rating for emergency service

Through the cooperative efforts of the City of Milwaukee Department of Neighborhood Services, Department of Emergency Communications, Milwaukee Water Works, and the Milwaukee Fire Department (MFD), the city earned a score of ONE, the highest possible rating, from the Insurance Services Office (ISO).

Wrightstown fire call blamed on self-cleaning oven

The Wrightstown Fire Department is advising people not to leave an oven unattended in self-cleaning mode. Smoke and the smell of burning plastic were reported in an apartment building on the 600-block of County Rd. U in Wrightstown just before 10:30 Wednesday night. Multiple first responders answered the call, including Wrightstown and Greenleaf fire departments, Wrightstown police and County Rescue.

Green Bay Police and Fire host Safety Night with mock crash scenario

Report: Unsecured hatch caused gas to spill in 2023 fire that led to deadly I-95 collapse in Philadelphia

Video evidence obtained by investigators shows the cover to the 16-inch "manhole" was open when driver Nathan Moody arrived at a Wilmington, Delaware, terminal to refill the tank and it was still not properly secured when he drove away to deliver it to a convenience store in Philadelphia, about 42 miles (68 kilometers) away.

How fires in Massachusetts triple-deckers spread so fast - and are hard to put out

Study Shows Increased Rates of Dementia in 9/11 Responders with More Exposure to Toxins

Evidence that Word Trade Center (WTC) responders during 9/11 and its aftermath have since suffered poorer brain health than others not exposed to WTC toxins has mounted in recent years. A new study led by Stony Brook University researchers that evaluates more than 5,000 WTC responders indicates that those who had more exposures to WTC-related toxins have dementia at a higher rate than other responders with fewer WTC-related toxic exposures.

Video shows man punching Los Angeles fire truck during response to car crash

VIDEO: Firefighters in South Los Angeles said they had to physically fight a man off after he attacked a fire truck in a caught-on-camera confrontation. A Station 16 fire truck was on its way to respond to a crash when the man suddenly climbed aboard the fire engine. “We were literally responding to a traffic collision and this guy just came out of nowhere, jumped in front of the engine and just started punching it,” said Andrew Chaing, a firefighter/paramedic who was in the truck at the time of the incident.

Milwaukee firefighters battle two-alarm apartment blaze

A Milwaukee apartment is a total loss after an early afternoon fire on the city’s northwest side. Firefighters arrived at a condo on 72nd and Brown Deer around 1:30 pm on Wednesday afternoon to flames that engulfed the first-floor unit and had spread to the second floor. Crews worked quickly to contain the blaze, calling in a second unit to help.

Athens Area EMT celebrates 50 years of service

West Allis Fire Department responds to structure fire, no injuries

Firefighters on Tuesday morning, June 11, responded to the scene of a structure fire near 71st and National in West Allis. The call came in shortly before 2 a.m. The property is a two-story structure with a tavern on the bottom with two apartments above that business space. The fire was mostly contained to the tavern, but smoke spread throughout the structure, according to the West Allis Fire Department.
