Firefighters in one Ohio city will receive big pay raises under new contract

VIDEO: Firefighters with the Columbus Division of Fire will receive a nearly 18% raise between now and October 2025 as part of a new three-year contract. The contract will allow city firefighters to receive retroactive pay, in the amount of a 7.5% increase, dating back to their Nov. 1, 2023 pay period.

New video shows pursuit of stolen fire truck through city in California

New video has been released by the California Highway Patrol of the pursuit of a stolen Sacramento Fire Department truck from East Sacramento in North Sacramento. At 8:39 p.m. on May 18, reports came in that a Sacramento Fire Battalion Chief’s truck had been stolen, according to the Sacramento Police Department.

High carbon monoxide levels force downtown Madison building to evacuate

A carbon monoxide problem forced a downtown Madison apartment building to evacuate early Tuesday morning, Madison Fire Department reports. MFD says just after midnight crews responded to Lake Towne Apartments for a carbon monoxide alarm that was going off. When firefighters arrived on scene, they found elevated carbon monoxide levels on all three floors.

VIDEOS: Some evacuees cleared to return home after 8-alarm fire at California construction site

South Carolina city begins construction on first all-electric firehouse in the Southeast

Hawaii’s Kilauea volcano erupts in region that hasn’t seen eruption since 1974

Endeavor/Moundville Fire Department honors 38 retired firefighters

No one injured, cats saved in house Sparta fire

Two cats were rescued from a house fire in Sparta Friday morning. According to a news release from the Sparta Area Fire District, it responded to a reported house fire on May 31 at about 8:04 a.m at 421 Hill St. in Sparta, Wis. Smoke was coming from a second-story bedroom when crews arrived. Those inside the home exited without injury.

Man attempts to steal fuel from Indiana fire station

A man tried to help himself to a fire department’s fuel supply last week. According to the Needham Community Fire Department, a pickup truck showed up at Station 81 (6822 E 350 N) at 5:13 a.m. on Thursday, May 30. The driver got out and tried to steal fuel from the fire station. “This individual decided to attempt to help himself to our mission critical fuel supply which we utilize for our fire trucks ensuring we can respond to your emergency when you need us,” the department wrote on Facebook.

La Crosse Fire Department rescues injured biker from Grandad Bluff

A biker had to be rescued from Grandad Bluff after falling and getting hurt Friday afternoon. The call came in around 2:45 p.m. according to Battalion Chief Jesse Walters in a news release. Given the location, 13 firefighters and six units went to the scene. They worked with dispatchers and used an app called What3Words to locate the injured person.

Buffalo County fire claims house and garage

VIDEO: A house and garage in Buffalo County are destroyed after a fire early this morning. The sheriff’s office says they got a 911 call at around 2 am for the fire, which was west of Mondovi. When crews arrived, they found the house was engulfed in flames. The two owners of the house were able to get themselves and their pets out without any injuries.
