VIDEO: Firefighters with the Columbus Division of Fire will receive a nearly 18% raise between now and October 2025 as part of a new three-year contract.
The contract will allow city firefighters to receive retroactive pay, in the amount of a 7.5% increase, dating back to their Nov. 1, 2023 pay period.

A carbon monoxide problem forced a downtown Madison apartment building to evacuate early Tuesday morning, Madison Fire Department reports.
MFD says just after midnight crews responded to Lake Towne Apartments for a carbon monoxide alarm that was going off.
When firefighters arrived on scene, they found elevated carbon monoxide levels on all three floors.

Investigators are trying to figure out what caused a fire at Aldo Leopold Community School in Green Bay overnight as school officials figure out what’s next for students so close to the end of the school year.

Training thunderstorms dumping several inches of rain in a short period of time caused the National Weather Service to issue a flood advisory for parts of Columbia, Dodge and Washington Counties overnight Monday, June 3, 2024.
Though the rain has stopped, the weather service says another half inch could fall Tuesday afternoon as more rain moves into the area.

A massive fire at a building under construction forced evacuations Monday in Redwood City.
More than five hours after the fire started firefighters were able to contain the fire to the originating structure, according to the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office. Although "under control," the area is in a 24-hour fire watch.

Two cats were rescued from a house fire in Sparta Friday morning.
According to a news release from the Sparta Area Fire District, it responded to a reported house fire on May 31 at about 8:04 a.m at 421 Hill St. in Sparta, Wis.
Smoke was coming from a second-story bedroom when crews arrived.
Those inside the home exited without injury.

A devastating seven-alarm fire in Paterson, New Jersey left families homeless and businesses destroyed Sunday morning.
Residents said the fire at 195 Broadway started around midnight, but firefighters continued dousing the building with water well after the sun came up.

A man tried to help himself to a fire department’s fuel supply last week.
According to the Needham Community Fire Department, a pickup truck showed up at Station 81 (6822 E 350 N) at 5:13 a.m. on Thursday, May 30. The driver got out and tried to steal fuel from the fire station.
“This individual decided to attempt to help himself to our mission critical fuel supply which we utilize for our fire trucks ensuring we can respond to your emergency when you need us,” the department wrote on Facebook.

A biker had to be rescued from Grandad Bluff after falling and getting hurt Friday afternoon.
The call came in around 2:45 p.m. according to Battalion Chief Jesse Walters in a news release.
Given the location, 13 firefighters and six units went to the scene.
They worked with dispatchers and used an app called What3Words to locate the injured person.

VIDEO: A house and garage in Buffalo County are destroyed after a fire early this morning. The sheriff’s office says they got a 911 call at around 2 am for the fire, which was west of Mondovi.
