Members of Pine Lake Fire Rescue and the Rhinelander Fire Department trained on a house that was donated to them. The fire crews set up multiple scenarios for search and rescue inside the house while using their smoke machine, giving zero visibility.

Two kayakers were saved this weekend by first responders and by the life jackets they were wearing. Barron County Sheriff Chris Fitzgerald said a 911 call came in at 12:30 p.m. Sunday for two people whose kayaks overturned on the Red Cedar River below the Mikana Dam.
