Investigators believe lightning sparked an early morning barn fire near the Town of Chase. The Pulaski fire chief says they responded just before 5 AM after the property owner at 811 County Highway C reported seeing a lightning strike, and a nearby barn quickly caught fire. Two people were critically injured after their SUV collided with a trailer carrying barrels of oil near Giddings, authorities say. One person has died following a Thursday morning house fire. A news release from the Dane County Sheriff's Office stated the fire was at a home on County Highway Y. Fire crews from Mazomanie and Black Earth were called to put it out around 6:40 a.m. A neighbor discovered the fire and reported it after power went out in the area.
