Cedarburg fire chief position shift to full time is official

The Cedarburg Common Council last week approved changing the fire chief position from part-time to full-time, but that won’t change things much for Jeff Vahsholtz, who has worked in that position for almost a decade. Lightning likely sparked barn fire in Oconto County

Investigators believe lightning sparked an early morning barn fire near the Town of Chase. The Pulaski fire chief says they responded just before 5 AM after the property owner at 811 County Highway C reported seeing a lightning strike, and a nearby barn quickly caught fire. Fortunately, no people or animals were involved or hurt, and firefighters were able to keep the fire from spreading to nearby buildings and a farmhouse.

'Last Station' miniature fire museum dedicated in New York

One person found dead in Mazomanie house fire

One person has died following a Thursday morning house fire. A news release from the Dane County Sheriff's Office stated the fire was at a home on County Highway Y. Fire crews from Mazomanie and Black Earth were called to put it out around 6:40 a.m. A neighbor discovered the fire and reported it after power went out in the area.
