Sprinklers contained a fire at an apartment complex on the city's east side early Tuesday morning, according to the Madison Fire Department.
Firefighters responded to 2351 Winnebago St. where neighbors reported seeing fire on a porch at Carbon Apartments around 5:43 a.m.
Engine Co. 3 and other east-side crews arrived to find smoke coming from a first-floor porch and an outside sprinkler head activated.

Areas of fog have developed across parts of north-central
Wisconsin early this morning. The fog will be dense at times,
reducing visibilities to under a half mile. The dense fog is
expected to lift between 6am and 8am. If traveling, expect rapidly

Two boaters and a dog managed to escape unharmed Monday afternoon when a fire destroyed the boat they were on in San Francisco Bay.
The fire burned the 45-foot vessel off Westpoint Harbor in Redwood City at around 1 p.m. The San Francisco Fire Department said one of its rescue boats was at the scene extinguishing the fire.

The Wautoma Fire Department is the lucky recipient of a grant from the Community Foundation of Wisconsin. The grant allowed the department to purchase white helmets for the Chief and Assistant Chiefs. The purpose of the white helmet is to allow anyone on scene to quickly identify the officers in charge, which allows for a safe fireground.

Two people escaped out of a home on Madison’s east side Friday morning after smoke alarms went off, the City of Madison Fire Department reports.
Crews responded just before 8 a.m. to a home on the 500 block of Ludington Avenue for the report of a fire in the basement. Both residents got out of the home, along with one of their cats.

A fire early Friday morning along the 200 block of North 12th Avenue in Dillon destroyed a two-story storage building, and shed, burned two vehicles and killed a dog and pet snake, according to Dillon Fire Chief Keith Bailey.
Bailey said firefighters rescued a man from the burning building.
He added the man went to the hospital for minor smoke inhalation, but is expected to recover.

First responders were dispatched to the Fox River in Wrightstown Saturday for three kayakers in distress due to the current of the river.

Little information is currently available on a boat fire that broke out Wednesday on Shawano Lake.
Viewer-submitted pictures and video show a large plume of smoke rising in the air as the vessel, which appears to be a speed boat, is completely engulfed in flames.
The Shawano County authorities say the Wisconsin DNR is investigating the fire.

VIDEO: The man who was trapped in the rubble of a house explosion in LaFayette before being rescued has died.
The Walworth County Sheriff's Office identified him as 68-year-old Leland Holden.
Investigators said he was the only person home at the time of the explosion.
The Elkhorn Area Fire Department chief said his crews dug for nearly an hour to rescue a man trapped beneath the piles of debris.
