Training thunderstorms dumping several inches of rain in a short period of time caused the National Weather Service to issue a flood advisory for parts of Columbia, Dodge and Washington Counties overnight Monday, June 3, 2024. A massive fire at a building under construction forced evacuations Monday in Redwood City. More than five hours after the fire started firefighters were able to contain the fire to the originating structure, according to the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office. Two cats were rescued from a house fire in Sparta Friday morning. According to a news release from the Sparta Area Fire District, it responded to a reported house fire on May 31 at about 8:04 a.m at 421 Hill St. in Sparta, Wis. A devastating seven-alarm fire in Paterson, New Jersey left families homeless and businesses destroyed Sunday morning. A man tried to help himself to a fire department’s fuel supply last week. According to the Needham Community Fire Department, a pickup truck showed up at Station 81 (6822 E 350 N) at 5:13 a.m. on Thursday, May 30. The driver got out and tried to steal fuel from the fire station. “This individual decided to attempt to help himself to our mission critical fuel supply which we utilize for our fire trucks ensuring we can respond to your emergency when you need us,” the department wrote on Facebook.

A biker had to be rescued from Grandad Bluff after falling and getting hurt Friday afternoon. The call came in around 2:45 p.m. according to Battalion Chief Jesse Walters in a news release. Given the location, 13 firefighters and six units went to the scene. They worked with dispatchers and used an app called What3Words to locate the injured person.

A six-alarm fire on Thursday night destroyed several buildings that were part of a Templeton, Massachusetts, horse farm, video from the scene showed. Fire tore through several buildings at the Liberty-Belle Stables on Patriots Road in Templeton. VIDEO: The Busted Plug sculpture - one of city’s most known landmarks - still hasn’t been relocated. The 40-foot metal fire hydrant was created by well known Columbia artist, Blue Sky, but was taken down with little indication on where it would be put next. In February of last year, the city of Columbia commissioned a construction company called McClam & Associates to remove the sculpture off Taylor Street and keep it in storage until the city decided what they were going to do with it.
