Kentucky fire department joins Neighbors app linking doorbell cameras to law enforcement nationwide

Plenty of people have Ring or other security cameras installed at their home. Now, fire and police departments in Kentucky and Indiana are using that to their advantage. Ring's Neighbors app is something anybody can use, whether they have a Ring camera or not. It's a way for people to look out for each other and a way for police and fire departments to connect directly with the public.

Mock wildfire exercise provides vital training in Black River Falls

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources held a mock wildfire exercise from it's Black River Falls location, utilizing 17 area fire departments. In the case of a major wildfire, it was an exercise in "practice makes perfect". "Getting all of these entities together, getting all of them working together, that's the goal," said Jack Workman, Emergency Management Director for Jackson County.

VIDEO: Car bursts into flames after rear-ending box truck in Florida; driver, passengers flee on foot

Texas fire crews responding to fire shot at by gunman who smoked out 3 people and shot them dead, police say

California: Golden Gate Bridge to build training facility for suicide net rescues

Professional skydiver dies after 'traumatic' crash Sunday into Racine County pond

A skydiver died after crashing into a Racine County pond at around 11:30 a.m. Sunday morning. The skydiver, a 36-year-old man from Tennessee, experienced "a hard landing in" a pond next to the property of Skydive Midwest on the west side of Interstate 94 and, when pulled from the pond by other skydivers, he "was not conscious and was not breathing adequately," according to a release from the Racine County Sheriff's Office.

Milwaukee firefighters battle 2-alarm basement fire

Milwaukee firefighters battled a two-alarm fire in the basement of a home near 15th and Windlake on Saturday morning, Aug. 27. The call for the fire came just before 4 a.m. There were no injuries – everyone in the home got out safely. The American Red Cross is helping five adults and one child who live in the home.

First responders sound the alarm: Rural communities in Wisconsin face EMS shortage

During an emergency situation, most of us can expect help to arrive in minutes, but in rural areas, you may be left waiting for an ambulance for up to 45 minutes. Those wait times could increase. A rural EMS shortage is impacting communities all across Wisconsin, including ones in the Coulee Region. Roughly 9,000 people rely on just 15 full time EMS and paramedics in Tomah.

Grand Chute Fire Department warns about phone scam

The fire department says a citizen reported receiving a phone call soliciting a donation for Family Safety Day and asking for their credit card information. Firefighters told to wear protective gear less to limit exposure to 'forever chemicals' linked to cancer

A firefighters union and a chiefs association are both warning members that the protective gear firefighters wear poses a health risk because it can contain PFAS, synthetic chemicals associated with issues such as an increased risk of liver and kidney cancer. PFAS, short for per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances, are often referred to as "forever chemicals" because they’re nearly impossible to destroy.

North Carolina fire rescue department restoring 100-year-old fire truck

Metal etching company creating elements of Ohio's Triangle Factory Fire memorial
