PHOTOS: Like a phoenix rising from the ashes, Sunday marked the next chapter that will allow firefighters, police and other first responders to prepare for emergencies without leaving Carbon County. The rain also didn’t stop various fire companies, law enforcement agencies, elected officials, friends and family from gathering on the Broad Mountain in Nesquehoning to ring in and celebrate the nearly complete Emergency Operations Training Center.

North Carolina firefighters, supporters are pushing hard for PFAS-free turnout gear

For instance, the rate at which firefighters develop cancer outpaces the general population by 9 percent, and their risk of dying from cancer is 14 percent higher, according to a study published by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH).

Five new 9/11 bills signed into law in New York

The bills are expected to help and support New Yorkers "whose lives were transformed on that terrible day." In remembrance of the 21st anniversary of 9/11, New York Gov. Kathy Hochul today signed five pieces of legislation that officials believe will provide support to 9/11 victims, survivors and their families.

'It’s been a good ride': Wisconsin firefighter set to complete 50 years of service before his retirement

You can usually find Terry Phelps behind the wheel of a fire truck. “I grew up on the fire department,” Phelps said. “My dad was on for 25 years.” Service is in Phelps’ blood.

Green Bay Students Get A Small Taste Of 9-11 First Responder Response

Teens who weren’t yet alive during the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks took the opportunity to imagine themselves in the shoes of first responders by climbing stairs at Green Bay West High School. The school’s annual bleacher climb honors the first responders who lost their lives on 9/11. Due to weather, Monday’s climb was moved indoors into the gym.

Madison community celebrates grand opening of Fire Fighters Local 311 Memorial, honors fallen 9/11 heroes

Events to honor and commemorate those victims from the attacks on September 11, 2001 took place all over Wisconsin. In Madison, crowds raised an American flag to honor all first responders who lost their lives serving their country. In addition to unveiling a new Fire Fighters Local 311 Memorial. Mahlon Mitchell joined the community at Madison Fire Station 14 on Sunday.

VIDEO: 3 firefighters injured after fire erupts at historic church in South Los Angeles

Three firefighters were injured early Sunday morning while battling a fire that engulfed a historic church in South Los Angeles, officials said. More than 100 firefighters responded to the major emergency fire at Victory Baptist Church at 4802 S. Mckinley Ave. for one hour and 40 minutes. One firefighter suffered moderate injuries and two others sustained minor injuries; two of them were transported to a hospital while the other was treated at the scene, an LAFD spokesperson said.

First responders pay tribute to fallen heroes on 9/11 in Texas county

Oklahoma State University Fire Training program gets first new truck in 90 years

Renovated former hospital in Vermont now housing for firefighters

The Vermont Fire Academy is based in Pittsford which can be up to two hours away from many fire departments across the state. The distance has made it difficult for firefighters to get the necessary training and hard to incentivize them to attend optional ones.

Fifth annual Richard Garner Memorial Ride honors fallen firefighter

Friends and family gathered today to remember a beloved member of the Madison Fire Department. Rick Garner Jr. tragically died on Easter morning in 2018 just after finishing a 48-hour shift on the job. Since his passing, Garner’s good friend and ambulance paramedic partner has helped organize the Richard Garner Memorial Ride.

Green Bay family of four displaced after house fire

The Red Cross is helping four family members following an early morning house fire Saturday. The Green Bay Metro Fire Department responded around 3:42 a.m. Saturday to a house on Mather Street in Green Bay for a structure fire. Upon arrival, the fire department said in a statement that crews found heavy smoke and flames coming from the rear of the single-family home.

Monona fire hydrants repainted in new public art project

Fifteen fire hydrants in Monona are getting a new look. The Madison Public Art Project recently commissioned the Vibrant Hydrant project. Featured artists redesigned local fire hydrants to include colorful designs and spark inspiration for people who live in the area. Monona Fire Chief Jeremy McMullen says sharing the art with the public is one way to honor the anniversary of 9/11.
