Nine firefighters in the state of Wisconsin died in this past year in the line of duty.
Ben Hansen Park in Wisconsin Rapids hosted an emotional ceremony honoring those who put their lives on the line and made the ultimate sacrifice.
"It makes you feel that we're all vulnerable. We're always taking the risk," said Jim Lutoi, President of the Wisconsin Fire and EMS Memorial.

Shelby and La Crosse Fire crews quickly put out a fire inside a mobile home Friday afternoon.
According to the Shelby Fire Department, firefighters saw smoke coming from a window when they got to the scene at La Crosse Mobile Home Park.
They went inside the home and put out the fire within 12 minutes of being on the scene.

A Pardeeville home was seriously damaged in a fire Thursday afternoon.
The Pardeeville Fire Department said in a Facebook post it responded to a home around 4:40 p.m. for a fire with "smoke and flames coming from a window."
When firefighters arrived, the department says they initially attacked the fire from outside, before moving inside.

Since 1884, the Marshfield Fire Department has kept their community safe, but now they're looking to pass on what they know to the next generation. Unfortunately, like many other departments in Central Wisconsin and around the country, there is a growing shortage of firefighters.

The Braising Pan restaurant, 1100 N Main St, has burned down after a fire broke out inside it on Thursday morning.
According to a press release from the West Bend Fire Department, they received a call at 1:14 a.m. about black smoke coming from the restaurant from a cleaner, who was on scene and able to exit the building.

A vacant building on the Southwest Side was destroyed after a massive fire early Friday morning.
The fire started just after 12:30 a.m. at a building along Frio City Road near West Malone.
Crews arrived to find heavy flames shooting out of the building. The building eventually collapsed.
Firefighters say the building wasn't occupied at the time and there were no injuries reported.

PHOTOS: A Shawnee fire truck is heavily damaged after a car crashed through a garage door at the John B. Glaser Fire Station, 6501 Quivira Road, early Thursday morning.
Shawnee Deputy Fire Chief Corey Sands says that one of the station’s two fire crews was out on an emergency medical call around midnight, when the second fire crew back at the station awoke to a loud sound and found a car had crashed through a garage door and into the front of their parked truck.

Nearly 2 million customers in Florida were without power early Friday two days after Hurricane Ian slammed into the state, killing at least 12.
Florida’s Division of Emergency Management Director Kevin Guthrie suggested the number could be higher, announcing during a news conference Friday that as many as 21 deaths had been reported in Ian's wake.

A fraternity house in downtown Madison caught fire overnight after an outdoor firepit was left unattended, according to the City of Madison Fire Department (MFD).
MFD spokesperson Cynthia Schuster said firefighters responded to reports of smoke and flames coming from the back of a house on Langdon Street shortly before 1 a.

irefighters from across the state will gather Saturday to honor seven of their own who gave their lives in the line of duty during the past year.
Each October, a ceremony is held at the Wisconsin State Firefighters Memorial in Ben Hansen Park in Wisconsin Rapids that includes the reading of the names on the memorial, playing of bagpipes, choral presentations and the traditional Firefighter's Bell Ceremony.

VIDEO: A large-scale barn fire in the Town of Clayton on Wednesday afternoon drew help from ten fire departments in the area.
According to the Town of Clayton Fire Rescue, crews were dispatched around 12:20 p.m. on September 28 and stated that heavy smoke was visible when crews were on the way to the scene.

Firefighters on Thursday morning, Sept. 29 responded to the scene of a fire at The Braising Pan restaurant in West Bend. The call came in around 1:15 a.m.
The two-alarm fire was out by 4 a.m. The structure sustained major damage. No injuries were reported.

Weather conditions in Florida's Gulf Coast are dangerous due to Hurricane Ian -- and authorities are experiencing issues as rain and wind hammer the area.
The Naples Fire and Rescue Department posted a video of a downed power line that sparked flames in the street on Wednesday. No one was hurt but authorities shared the footage to remind the public to stay off roads until the storm passes.

The City of Overland Park now has a defibrillator available 24-7 at one of their parks, what they are calling their new “SaveStation”.
Jason Green, EMS Chief for the City of Overland Park, said this will help save more lives, with everyone being able to use it and follow its instructions.
Green said the city’s cardiac arrest save rate is around 42 percent, which is much higher than other Kansas City metro emergency services, and across the country.

Just in time for Fire Prevention Month, Doylestown Borough
and Doylestown Township have released a new video aimed at recruiting new members for the Doylestown Fire Company.
Both the borough and the township ran the video spot at their September public meetings. The video will also be shown on their websites, at the County Theatre and through a variety of other avenues.

On Wednesday, Tyler Fire Chief David Coble toured a recently-constructed fire station in Tyler’s sister city of Jelenia Góra, Poland.
Coble is traveling with a group of representatives from East Texas to deepen the partnership between the two communities.
His Polish counterpart led the delegation on a tour of Jelenia Góra’s main fire station, an expansive and modern facility that opened in the last two years.

Española Assistant Fire Chief John Wickersham will have a role as a Fire Chief on the upcoming comedy television series “The Curse.” Filmed in Española, the show is set to star Emma Stone, Nathan Fielder and Benny Safdie.
According to Wickersham, he was joined by several other local firefighters to film scenes on Sept, 20 and 21 at the Española Fire Department.

Over a dozen agencies responded to a fire late Wednesday morning at a home in Fort Atkinson.
The Fort Atkinson Fire Department responded to the fire on the 400 block of Edwards Street and called in other departments to assist. Volunteer firefighters and members of the Fort Atkinson Police Department were also on scene.

Firefighters worked to put out a fire Wednesday morning as smoke was coming from the second story of a residence on Green Bay’s west side.
Multiple crews responded to the 1100 block of Minahan Street for a reported fire. There was smoke coming from the second story of the residence.
Local 5 did have a crew at the scene and firefighters did set up ladders to the second story of the residence.
