All occupants of an apartment safely got out of an apartment that was on fire late Monday night.
The La Crosse Fire Department says they responded to a basement fire at 119 9th Street South shortly before 11:30 p.m. Monday. Crews arrived to discover smoke coming from the basement of the three-unit apartment building.

Crews put out a fire at an Appleton hydro plant Monday night.
At about 11:15 p.m., the Appleton Fire Department was called to a fire off Olde Oneida and Edison Streets. There was a report of smoke and fire.
Crews found fire in the plant located off Edison Street. It took about 30 minutes to get the fire under control.

Fire caused extensive damage to a home in Fond du Lac Monday.
At about 12:55 p.m., Fond du Lac Fire Rescue was called to a fire in the 200 block of N. Brooke Street.
Crews “encountered heavy fire conditions showing from the front of the single family residence,” officials say.
Firefighters say the fire caused extensive damage to the first floor of the home.

Nearly 100 firefighters were needed to put out a large warehouse fire in north Houston early Tuesday.
The Houston Fire Department responded to the fire at Martin's Lumber & Roofing Supply on Jensen Drive just north of 610 near the Eastex Freeway around 5:30 a.m. as black smoke began billowing from every window in the business.

The Houston Fire Department is battling a large hardware store fire on the north side of town.
Firefighters are responding to the fire at Martin's Hardware & Lumber on Jensen Drive just north of 610 near the Eastex Freeway. Crews arrived around 5:30 a.m. to extinguish the flames, but continue battling the fire.

"It's a whole different level of responsibility, and a lot more math involved," he said with a laugh.

A 45-year-old man was found dead at the scene of a fire at an historic tavern in Manitowoc County.
The victim’s name was not released. He was found in an apartment on the second story of Hika Bay Tavern in Cleveland, according to the Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Office.
On Sunday, just before 8 p.m., crews were called to the tavern located at 252 Lincoln Avenue.

Firefighters from multiple departments worked overnight to knock down a massive fire at a well-known greenhouse in Maple Grove.
Fire crews were called out around 3:30 a.m. for the blaze at Lynde's Greenhouse and Nursery off 93rd Avenue North, east of Elm Creek Boulevard. As they arrived, firefighters saw large flames and a large pillar of smoke billowing out of the greenhouse, according to the department's Twitter feed.

PHOTOS: Firefighters in Newtown Square staged their own sequel to the movie “National Treasure” recently as they retrieved and opened a decades-old time capsule that had resided in the cornerstone of their old station for over 45 years and contained many items from 1916.
In 1965, the company’s original fire station on Newtown Street Road was knocked down and from that wreckage firefighters retrieved a time capsule that was placed there in 1916.

The Memphis Fire Department chief is calling for action after two firefighters were struck and injured by a driver Sunday morning on I-240 & Kerr Avenue.
Memphis Fire Chief Gina Sweat said she wants harsher penalties to be handed down for motorists who cause these accidents.

Nine firefighters in the state of Wisconsin died in this past year in the line of duty.
Ben Hansen Park in Wisconsin Rapids hosted an emotional ceremony honoring those who put their lives on the line and made the ultimate sacrifice.
"It makes you feel that we're all vulnerable. We're always taking the risk," said Jim Lutoi, President of the Wisconsin Fire and EMS Memorial.

Shelby and La Crosse Fire crews quickly put out a fire inside a mobile home Friday afternoon.
According to the Shelby Fire Department, firefighters saw smoke coming from a window when they got to the scene at La Crosse Mobile Home Park.
They went inside the home and put out the fire within 12 minutes of being on the scene.

A Pardeeville home was seriously damaged in a fire Thursday afternoon.
The Pardeeville Fire Department said in a Facebook post it responded to a home around 4:40 p.m. for a fire with "smoke and flames coming from a window."
When firefighters arrived, the department says they initially attacked the fire from outside, before moving inside.
