Milwaukee police, fire departments investigating arson, shots fired incident

The Milwaukee Police Department is investigating an incident where shots were fired and an apartment unit was set on fire Saturday night. Police say calls began coming in around 8:53 p.m. reporting shots fired into a building near 40th and West Florist Avenue. Several shots were fired into four apartment units, but no people were hit, according to police.

2 displaced after workers start exterior wall on fire at Madison home, authorities say

Two people were displaced after workers started an exterior wall on fire at a Near West Side home on Thursday afternoon, the Madison Fire Department reported. There were no injuries, and investigators determined the fire at the home in the 4200 block of Doncaster Drive was accidental, fire department spokesperson Cynthia Schuster said in a statement.

Waupun House Fire Draws Heavy Response

About 50 fire fighters from area fire departments spent the better portion of the early morning hours battling a house fire in the City of Waupun. Just after 1:30 AM, Friday, October 14, a Waupun Police officer noticed what appeared to be a furnace on fire in the basement of a house in the 200 block of Rounsville Street.

Superior: East End fire station could get historic recognition

When the first East End fire hall burned down in 1896, city leaders got to work developing a new fire hall on the corner diagonally across the street from the original wooden structure built in 1888. By May 1898, East End had its new fire hall, which was designed by architect James Chisholm. The two-story brick fire house featured brownstone trim, a round castellated corner tower and three bays with large Roman arch entrances for fire department’s five rigs.

Short-staffed hospital in Washington state calls on firefighters to help treat patients

VIDEO: On Saturday, Oct. 8, the emergency room staff at St. Michael Medical Center in Silverdale had to call in firefighters to help treat patients. The fire chief, Jason Christian, said a charge nurse called around 10:30 p.m. and said her staff was drowning and they needed help. “She expressed that this was a bit of an unprecedented request, and she said the conditions in the emergency room were horrible,” Christian said.

AAA raises awareness for Kentucky’s Move Over Law

Kronenwetter Fire Department names new chief

The Kronenwetter Fire Department named their new chief, and she's making history. Theresa O'Brien learned Tuesday night that she would be the village's new fire chief, and it's a decision she says she is over the moon about. O'Brien has been with the department for 17 years, originally joining after her husband, who also works at the department, encouraged her to do so.

Former New Lisbon EMS Director honored for 40 years

he New Lisbon First Responders honored their former EMS director Richard Weiland for his 40 years with the city Wednesday night. Weiland started out as a volunteer EMT in 1982, and later took on many roles in the community. He was a a member of the Camp Douglas Rescue Squad and Mauston Area Ambulance Association, telecommunicator for Juneau County and firefighter and safety officer for the New Lisbon Fire Department.

Illegal burning destroys two homes in Wood County

Firefighters Battle Large Blaze at Massachusetts Greenhouse, Video Shows Heavy Flames

Firefighters battled a large fire at a Sudbury, Massachusetts, greenhouse on Wednesday afternoon. Sudbury police said the structure fire was at Cavicchio Greenhouses on Codjer Lane. It was first reported about 2:40 p.m. Aerial video showed what appeared to be a greenhouse destroyed by fire. Heavy black smoke was pouring from the structure.

Tennessee firefighter, on-scene interpreter making a difference one call at a time

There’s a new face at Rural Metro Fire, Knox County. A young firefighter who is making a difference with his language skills. “Personally, I’ve always been a giver, ever since I was a little kid.
