Firefighters battled a large fire at a Sudbury, Massachusetts, greenhouse on Wednesday afternoon.
Sudbury police said the structure fire was at Cavicchio Greenhouses on Codjer Lane. It was first reported about 2:40 p.m.
Aerial video showed what appeared to be a greenhouse destroyed by fire. Heavy black smoke was pouring from the structure.

There’s a new face at Rural Metro Fire, Knox County. A young firefighter who is making a difference with his language skills.
“Personally, I’ve always been a giver, ever since I was a little kid. I’ve always wanted to help people,” firefighter Daniel Guerrero said. Guerrero is just over two months out of Academy Training, but already he’s making a difference through his English-Spanish interpretation skills.

All 142 Milwaukee firefighters who have died serving the city since 1860 were honored Wednesday, Oct. 12 during the annual "Fallen Firefighter Memorial Program."
Everyone knows that a firefighter's job is dangerous. It's their duty to run toward the flames, but Milwaukee Fire Chief Aaron Lipski said it's what happens after they leave that can be the most deadly.

PHOTOS: When Zionsville Fire Department firefighter Brett Havlin found an abandoned 1964 Zionsville firetruck in Sandwich, Ill., he knew something had to be done to bring it home.

The City of Chippewa Falls Fire and EMS will begin offering a signing bonus to new employees immediately in an effort to improve recruitment numbers.
The signing bonus will total $2,500, in two payments. New hires will receive $1,250 up front and $1,250 after 12 months of work for the department.
“We’re not looking for average, we’re looking for the best quality candidates we can get,” said Lee Douglas, fire chief at Chippewa Falls Fire and Emergency Services.

High-schoolers in the Dells area aspiring to a firefighting career now have an outlet within the school in which to do so.

Crews spent the overnight hours battling a barn fire in Shawano County. The fire chief says there were pigs inside the barn at the time

“I’m going to give the city of Ripon 25 years of my life.”
That is what Ron Feder told his wife, Dawn, in 1972 when he joined the Ripon Fire Department.
Fifty years later, he is still going.
Feder is celebrating a half century of service this year with what now is the Ripon Area Fire District. He was presented with awards from the department earlier this year, where he was joined by members of his family.

Catholic Health has started using an app that helps EMTs better communicate with emergency rooms, and says it may be a potential saver, especially when seconds count.
It's called Pulsara and installed on an EMTs smartphone or tablet, allowing them to engage in real-time consultation with emergency room doctors and nurses to triage and assess patients while they are en route to the hospital.

October 12th marks the start of what is still known as the worst natural disaster to ever hit Minnesota.
The Minnesota Historical Society says more than 450 people died in the Cloquet, Duluth and Moose Lake fires. More than 1,500 square miles were scorched and towns and villages burned flat.
The whole event lasted less than 15 hours from beginning to end.

A fire left several people without a home in Merrill Monday night.
It happened just before 7:15 on French Ridge Road. Officials with the Pine River Fire Department report they arrived to find parts of the first floor engulfed in flames.
Firefighters say the roof had to be removed at one point, exposing a large portion of the fire that had extended to the attic.

Monday evening, Oct. 10, the Waco Fire Department responded to a call about a large commercial fire near Imperial Drive.
Firefighters were responding to another call when they were dispatched to the fire, and were reportedly on the scene less than a minute after the call was placed. The fire took place at the Sunbright Recycling Plant at 701-A Texas Central Parkway, where large piles of material were ablaze.
