Beaver Dam Fire Department dive team to get communication upgrade

New communication equipment is forthcoming for the Beaver Dam Fire Department dive team thanks to a gift from a local business. At Wednesday’s Police and Fire Commission meeting, the dive team received a $10,000 donation from Jahnke’s Piggly Wiggly of Juneau, which is owned by Dan and Jane Jahnke. “The Jahnkes have a long history of supporting area fire and emergency medical service organizations through substantial and consistent financial contributions,” said Beaver Dam Fire Chief Mike Wesle.

Town of Campbell Fire Department given special tool to quickly deter house fires

The Town of Campbell’s fire department has a new tool to fight house fires thanks to a donation from the Wisconsin Freemasons. The Freemasons donated a portable Fire Suppression Tool, an advanced extinguisher that can be deployed in a home to help quickly slow a fire. A user can pull the pin on the device and throw it into the home or structure that’s on fire.

Crews battle fire at Galesville area turkey farm

Crews from more than a dozen departments battled a fire at a turkey farm near Galesville Tuesday morning. The fire was at Weltzien Farms northeast of Galesville. Galesville Fire Chief Lucas Teska said that at around 10 a.m., the call came in for the fire at the farm. Crews found the fire in the shop area inside one of the barns.

New screening program begins in hopes to prevent heart attacks in North Dakota officers and firefighters

Experimental plane crashes in Pierce County; 2 killed

Two people have died in the crash of an experimental airplane in western Wisconsin, according to federal and local officials. The Pierce County Sheriff's Office says the plane went down about 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in a field near the Red Wing Regional Airport on Highway 35 in Bay City. Officials say the Glass Air Super II SFT had taken off at an airport in Rochester, Minnesota for a training flight.

VIDEO: 64 displaced after lightning storm sets Colorado apartment on fire

A large apartment fire that broke out overnight in northeast Colorado Springs has displaced 64 people from 34 apartments, according to the Colorado Springs Fire Department. The fire, which happened in the 6000 block of Olympic Park Point in downtown Colorado Springs, was under control in an hour and a half according to CSFD.

Michigan non-profit introduces surf therapy to veterans, first responders

Four years after Ohio shooting, survivor reunites with first responders who saved her

Omar Enrique Santa-Perez shot 35 rounds in four minutes and 28 seconds, killing three people and wounding two others. South Milwaukee firefighters respond to 2 Labor Day incidents at Grant Park

Two separate rescue efforts this Labor Day in South Milwaukee brought emergency vehicles to Grant Park. A captain with the South Milwaukee Fire Department says both accidents involved children and in this vast park, they were just 100 yards apart. The first happened right along the water. The captain says a girl was struggling to stay afloat.

Right lane of I-39 SB reopens after vehicle fire near Portage

Wisconsin Fire News -

A vehicle fire near the city of Portage shut down the right lane of I-39 going southbound Monday afternoon, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation reported. The fire was reported at approximately 5:38 p.m. near the I-90 interchange. WisDOT estimated the lanes should be clear after one hour and the interstate has since reopened.
