Parents came out to Chippewa Falls High School Monday night to hear from police on how they would respond to a critical situation. The forum had representatives from the Chippewa Falls police and fire departments as well as from other local schools to discuss what the plan would be if a crisis like an active shooter event were to happen.

Fire destroyed apartments that were under construction in Rockwall County Tuesday morning. Six multi-level units caught fire near the southwest corner of Interstate 30 and FM 551 in Fate around 5:30 a.m. The flames could be seen from miles away and quickly consumed the partially complete structures.

Two paramedics with the San Francisco Fire Department had their ambulance attacked by a man they claim randomly approached them. As of now, SFFD does not know of any motive behind this attack. The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources held a mock wildfire exercise from it's Black River Falls location, utilizing 17 area fire departments. In the case of a major wildfire, it was an exercise in "practice makes perfect". "Getting all of these entities together, getting all of them working together, that's the goal," said Jack Workman, Emergency Management Director for Jackson County.

A skydiver died after crashing into a Racine County pond at around 11:30 a.m. Sunday morning. The skydiver, a 36-year-old man from Tennessee, experienced "a hard landing in" a pond next to the property of Skydive Midwest on the west side of Interstate 94 and, when pulled from the pond by other skydivers, he "was not conscious and was not breathing adequately," according to a release from the Racine County Sheriff's Office.

Milwaukee firefighters battled a two-alarm fire in the basement of a home near 15th and Windlake on Saturday morning, Aug. 27. The call for the fire came just before 4 a.m. There were no injuries – everyone in the home got out safely. The American Red Cross is helping five adults and one child who live in the home.
