De Pere fire department celebrates 150 years of service

After 150 years of service the De Pere fire department has gone through many large changes. Despite these changes, the department uses its history to prepare for the future. "We always grow from the big events we have to get a little bit better," said battalion chief Brett Jansen. There's been several large fires in De Pere that have molded the town's history.

Kenosha, Racine see different results on referendums to fund public safety

Voters in Kenosha and Racine saw similar referendum questions when it came to funding public safety, but different results came from the two cities just about 10 miles apart. Both referendums included funding for new police officers. In Racine, additional public safety measures were included. In Kenosha, the referendum also supported new firefighter positions.

Dodge County sheriff: Woman pronounced dead after crash in Township of Emmet

A woman is dead following a crash in the Township of Emmet, in Dodge County, on Tuesday, Aug. 9. Around 5:19 p.m., authorities were called to the northbound off-ramp of State Highway 26 to eastbound travel onto State Highway 16. An initial investigation showed a 2016 Toyota was traveling north on the State Highway 26 off-ramp to eastbound travel of State Highway 16, but the Toyota failed to negotiate the curve.

Two people escaped the burning wreckage of a small plane that crash-landed Tuesday afternoon on the 91 Freeway in Riverside County. The single-engine Piper PA-32 flying to Corona Municipal Airport went down at about midday on the eastbound 91 Freeway in Corona and might have struck at least one vehicle, according to the Corona Fire Department.

Paramedic among 2 killed when car hits first responders at South Carolina crash scene

A Florence County paramedic and a motorcyclist she was treating at the scene of a crash were killed Tuesday night in a series of events that unfolded in the 2700 block of Pamplico Highway. Paramedic Sara Kinsy Weaver, 32, of Florence, and Cedric Antonio Gregg, 37, also of Florence, died after a vehicle crossed the median at a high rate of speed and hit several first responders who were working at the scene of the initial crash, Coroner Keith von Lutcken said.

A Good Age: Massachusetts Fire Chief retires to ride across America on motorcycle

Taylor Mill memorial to tell story of volunteer fire departments in Kentucky

Western Lakes Fire District referendum fails in five of seven Waukesha County communities

Voters in five of seven Waukesha County communities voted against a referendum Tuesday that called for nearly doubling the annual budget for the Western Lakes Fire District, which would enable the district to address severe staffing shortages. Voters in the towns of Merton, Oconomowoc, Ottawa and villages of Dousman and Summit all voted "no" to the referendum question.

Counting 'smiles per hour': Retired Kenosha firefighter completes cross-country bicycle journey

Retired Kenosha Fire Captain Carl Carlson set out On May 15 to cross the country by bicycle. Making a difference: 67-year-old becomes Virginia volunteer firefighter

With firefighter shortages emerging in Bedford County, one man decided he wanted to get involved in the action, regardless of his age. Retired Firefighters in Washington State ‘Keep Tradition Alive’ Through Makeshift Museum

Dumpster fire damages 2 homes in Fond du Lac, no injuries reported

No injuries were reported after a dumpster fire in Fond du Lac damaged two homes on Sunday. According to Fond du Lac Fire/Rescue, fire crews responded to 143 Ellis Street around 6:30 p.m. for the report of a dumpster fire. Shortly after, crews were alerted the fire spread to two nearby homes. A passerby saw the fire, called 911, and alerted occupants of the fire.

The rescue was just one of several at this location along at a flood-prone underpass at 38th and Blake. The video showed a firefighter going into the floodwaters where a vehicle was nearly submerged and coming out with two children as people recorded cell phone video along the interstate.

Firefighters converge in Pennsylvania for first regional convention in 22 years

Alabama man steals vehicle, ambulance, and fire truck to evade police

A Meridianville man stole three vehicles, including an ambulance and fire truck early Sunday, according to the Limestone County Sheriff’s Office. According to a spokesman from the Athens Police Department, police responded to a call about a suspicious man at the Circle K gas station on Highway 31 North in Athens.
