First responders from around the area are honoring the 19 firefighters who sacrificed their lives over 60 years ago in the Shamrock McKee Refinery Explosion.
The memorial service starts at 6:30 p.m. on July 29 at the Moore County Courthouse in Dumas.
On July 29, 1956, 19 firefighters rushed into the flames to protect everyone in the Shamrock McKee Refinery Explosion in Moore County.

Kitchen doors saved a fire from spreading through a Beloit home late Tuesday morning, the Beloit Fire Department reported. Firefighters credited the doors being closed for limiting the damage from the flames to the room where the blaze started.
While smoke penetrated other rooms, the fact the kitchen doors were closed kept the fire contained to where it started, they wrote in a Facebook post.

The Winnebago County, Wisconsin Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) has confirmed that a child was killed in a semi vs. structure crash on Monday. The incident occurred around 6 p.m. on July 25 in Vinland, Wisconsin. “The semi-tractor/trailer had been traveling on I-41 southbound when it veered off the interstate through the fence line, crossed the frontage road, and crashed into an occupied residence on Green Valley Road,” WCSO said in a news release issued on Tuesday morning.

Stevens Point masons are donating a couple of tools to the Portage County Sheriff’s Office.
The Evergreen Lodge, with assistance from the Wisconsin Masonic Foundation, is gifting a fire suppression unit. It will allow police to bring the temperature of a fire down if they need to get to anyone before the fire department arrives.

A fire is under investigation after a popular Manitowoc bakery started on fire early Wednesday morning.
According to the Manitowoc Fire Rescue Department, they were dispatched to Hartman’s Bakery on N. 11th Street in Manitowoc around 12:12 a.m. for reports of smoke filling up the business, but the employees didn’t know where it was coming from.

Multiple fires at the vacant Strathmore buildings over the last several years prompted the State Fire Marshal’s office to offer a reward back in 2020.

A car caught on fire, resulting in the closure of the ramp from WIS 175 southbound to I-94 westbound in Milwaukee on Monday.

A Lamborghini burst into flames after running past a stop sign, crashing into a vehicle, and going airborne to collide with a home’s roof and wall.
Clarence Middleton said he was in his backyard when he saw “a big truck” flying towards him with “a bunch of debris and dirt flying right behind it.”
Middleton ran towards the mangled Lamborghini to help the driver.

A downtown Madison apartment was ruled uninhabitable after a fire Monday.
Firefighters were sent to the 100 block of South Hancock Street at around 10:25 a.m. A resident reported hearing a smoke detector and finding smoke coming from an upper floor. All occupants who were at home at the time of the fire but evacuated safely and no injuries were reported.
