Professional Fire Fighters of Wisconsin foundation brings back camp in East Troy to help burn victims

VIDEO: A Wisconsin firefighters group will bring its Burn Camp back in person Aug. 8-14 near East Troy to help children who have suffered serious burns. The Professional Fire Fighters of Wisconsin Charitable Foundation’s week-long camp has been virtual during the past two years because of COVID-19. The camp at Timber-lee is open to children ages 7 to 17 who participate in activities such as fishing, hiking and other outdoor sports and activities.

Portage Fire Department improving response times

The Portage Fire Department continues to improve response times in the city and the surrounding coverage area. Fire Chief Troy Haase recently said the times are improving but he remains concerned about the number of crew members who respond to emergency situations. Haase continues to search for more paid on-call members.

Educators Credit Union donates $10,000 to the South Shore Fire Department for new CPR equipment

Educators Credit Union joined with the South Shore Fire Department to celebrate Educators Credit Union’s $10,000 donation for the purchase of new CPR equipment on June 30. The South Shore Fire Department will now be able to host CPR training on-site and within the community. “We were able to essentially double the size of CPR equipment to provide more in-house training and training to neighboring agencies and people in the public,” said Mike Wienke, battalion chief of the South Shore Fire Department.

Burn Camp Ride bring riders to western Wisconsin

Janesville resident burnt after siphoning gas from car with vacuum

A Janesville resident was taken to the hospital after a fire broke out in their garage Sunday. Janesville Fire Department crews were called to the garage in the 4100 block of North River Road just after 11 a.m. The structure was fully engulfed in flames when crews arrived. Firefighters were able to keep the fire from spreading to the home, but the soffit and a part of the attic above the garage were damaged.

No one hurt in fire at Rice Lake business

No one is hurt after a Saturday morning fire at a Rice Lake business. The Rice Lake Fire Department said that crews were called to a fire at the American Excelsior Company plant on Pioneer Avenue at 8:05 a.m. Saturday, according to a release. West Side lab evacuated after chemical container leaked hazardous substance, Madison authorities say

A West Side lab was evacuated Tuesday morning after a chemical container leaked a hazardous substance, the Madison Fire Department reported. The evacuation of Mirus Bio, 5602 Research Park Blvd., began after the container holding a chemical known to be toxic and flammable became compromised, causing a leak and chemical vapors reportedly to waft through the hallways and to another floor via the building’s ventilation system, Fire Department spokesperson Cynthia Schuster said in a statement.

Multiple units from Janesville Fire Department respond to fire at landfill

The Janesville Fire Department had multiple units on scene Wednesday afternoon at the City of Janesville Landfill for a garbage fire. In a Facebook post, the Janesville Police Department stated they are not sure of what caused the fire. The fire is located on the northwest corner of the property. VIDEO: 2 Cars Catch Fire At California Auto Parts Yard

Firefighters responded to an auto parts yard in south Sacramento after two cars caught fire early Friday morning. The fire started just after 3 a.m. near 25th Avenue and Florin Perkins Road. Crews got to the scene and found the fire in the middle of an auto dismantler yard. Apparently, two vehicles that had just shown up at the yard after some recent accidents had caught fire.
