Madison Fire Department: Broken fan allows CO levels to rise in Madison apartment building garage

A broken exhaust fan is blamed for carbon monoxide building up inside the underground garage of a Madison apartment building. According to the Madison Fire Department, someone pulled into the garage, in the 90 block of Kessel Court, on Monday night and called 911 after hearing an alarm and noticing an odor.

Fire chief: Combined Locks fire response may be largest in Wisconsin history

VIDEO: Firefighters from across the state say they’re still recovering from the Combined Locks fire that engulfed a paper warehouse over the weekend. The Combined Locks fire chief said Monday this fire had one of the biggest -- if not the biggest -- fire responses in Wisconsin’s history. He also said he couldn’t be more grateful for the help from 67 agencies and 700 emergency responders who helped to put this fire out.

La Crosse city committee okays budget increases on new fire station project

A couple of changes to the new city fire station being built near the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. The La Crosse Board of Public Works approved Monday alterations to the project’s nearly $4 million budget. Interim fire chief Jeff Murphy said during the meeting the air conditioning for the station requires more structural support than originally planned.

VIDEO: Massive Fire Decimates Multi-Million Dollar Property in Massachusetts

A massive fire destroyed a multi-million dollar home in Hingham, Massachusetts, on Monday afternoon. The fire was reported shortly before 1 p.m. on Mann Street. Video from nearby showed heavy flames and smoke that could be seen for miles around. According to Zillow, the home was sold on June 10 for $3.

North Carolina fire department displays historical mural

PHOTOS: A new mural depicting the history of the Clayton Fire Department is on display on the side of Station One in Clayton. The mural was painted by Lacey Crime Art and can be seen driving along West Home Street. The mural tells the story of from a volunteer firefighter group that started in 1883.

Firefighting grandma: Texas volunteer was certified just shy of her 62nd birthday

‘So There's Been a Nuclear Attack': New PSA Despite ‘Low' Likelihood of Strike in New York City

Milwaukee first responders' timely response gave a local man another chance at life

Time is of the essence when it comes to life or death situations, and fortunately for Dale Wilbourn, first responders' timely response gave him another chance at life. A simple hug and a thank you is something he doesn't take for granted anymore. "I'm glad I'm here to even witness this," he said. May 9, Wilbourn showed up to work at The MacCanon Brown Homeless Sanctuary, much like every other day.

Fire in Peshtigo kills two dogs, under investigation

Officials are saying that a residential fire in Peshtigo is under investigation, but not considered suspicious. According to the Peshtigo Fire Department, on July 10 around 3 p.m. crews were sent to a residence on Woodridge Drive for a reported garage fire. When officials arrived, heavy smoke and fire was reportedly spreading to the residence and attic.

VIDEO: Historic 338-year-old hotel in Massachusetts damaged in massive fire

The historic Veranda House Hotel on Nantucket Island, Massachusetts, was damaged Saturday after a huge blaze ripped through the building. Wyoming firefighter artist honors comrades with sculpture

Reaching new heights: Ohio fire department drone offers life-saving technology at feed mill fire

A quick decision to break out a new drone may have saved a life at a June 17 fire scene. Scott Wolfe was out to dinner with his family that Friday when he got a call about a fire at the MARS Horsecare facility in Dalton. Crews from multiple departments responded. A drone with thermal imaging technology the Wooster Township Fire Department had acquired just days earlier was about to be thrust into service for the first time, and Wolfe was the only one on staff qualified to operate it.

Park outdoors: Ford expands recall for possible engine fires

Ford is expanding a recall of SUVs and telling owners to park them outside after a series of engine fires that can happen even when the ignition switches are off. The company also announced Friday that it's recalling another 100,000 SUVs in the U.S. for a different problem that also causes engine fires.

‘It’s like being a kid out there:’ South Carolina fire department hockey team competes for charity

When they’re not suppressing fires or responding to medical emergencies, the Myrtle Beach Fire Department, along with other Grand Strand first responders, can be found on the ice. “It’s like being a kid out there,” said Ross Porter, an engineer and paramedic for the City of Myrtle Beach. Occupants safe after Janesville residential fire

Sun Prairie Fire Chief remembered 4 years after explosion

The Sun Prairie Fire and Rescue Company held a ceremony remembering the life of Captain Cory Barr on Sunday night, who died responding to a gas leak explosion in 2018. The ceremony recognized not only his work, but the work of everyone who responded that day. It was also a time for members of the department to celebrate their captain.
