Pennsylvania lawmakers have sent a new bill designed to improve safety in state-regulated childcare facilities to Governor Tom Wolf's desk, the General Assembly announced Wednesday. Introduced by Republican State Sen. Dan Laughlin, Senate Bill 563 was crafted in response to a fire that killed five children in Erie three years ago, according to Senate Republicans.

Officials investigating cause of fire that resulted in heavy damage to home, displaced family in Kenosha

ire caused heavy damage to a home, displacing the family members who resided there on the city’s south side Tuesday night, according to Kenosha fire officials The Kenosha Fire Department responded to the 7:15 p.m. blaze at 7816 23rd Ave., according to Battalion Chief Ken Schroeder. Fire fighters were dispatched to the scene and when they arrived, “smoke and flames were showing in the back of the house,” Schroeder said.

Four people rescued from boat on Mississippi River near La Crosse

First responders rescued four people from a houseboat stranded on the Mississippi River on Tuesday night. The people on the boat called for help around 8 p.m. One of those on board told News 8 Now the vessel’s propeller failed, and they started floating south. Town of Campbell firefighters pulled the boat and the people on it to safety.

Greendale firefighter's Muskego home burned, chief receives VFW hero's award

Saying thank you from one hero to another, the Wisconsin VFW honored a Greendale fire chief for his service to his community, including one of his own firefighters. In February, Greendale Fire Lieutenant Mike Schmitt was among the crews rushing to a house fire in Muskego. He'd learn the fire was at his home.

Follow Up: Minocqua fire chief says hot material dumped into building started transfer station fire

Earlier Monday morning the Minocqua Waste Management Hauling & Transfer Station burst into flames. The fire broke out in the main processing building. A neighbor near the waste management station said he heard a loud explosion before noticing smoke coming from the area. 19 fire departments from around the Northwoods responded with 50 trucks and 150 firefighters coming through to help.

NTSB is sending an investigative team to an Amtrak derailment in Missouri that killed 3 people and injured at least 50

A celebration was held at Lido Beach Suday for fallen hero Casey Skudin, a New York City firefighter from Long Beach who was killed in a tragic accident while on vacation with his family in North Carolina. Over a dozen emergency crews respond to Door County fire

Over a dozen emergency crews assisted with a Door County house fire Sunday. The Egg Harbor Fire Department said crews responded to a grass fire that spread to a home at 6072 Windsong Bluff Drive around 10 a.m. Firefighters saw flames coming from the second story of the home. “Fire crews made an aggressive fire attack until water supply ran low,” Chief Justin MacDonald posted on social media.

City unveils mural honoring Ohio fire department

Those in attendance enjoyed the food and were able to check out vintage and modern firefighter equipment. The star of the show was the mural commissioned by the firefighters union, Local 136.
