Joe Arico has earned bragging rights in the Eureka Fire Protection District’s houses. The 59-year-old volunteer firefighter set a Firefighter Challenge world record earlier this month with his tandem race partner Lianne McAuley, a firefighter from Ottawa, Ontario. Milwaukee police were involved in a vehicle pursuit that occurred on Monday, Aug. 22 near 26th Street and Capitol Drive. Authorities in southwestern Wisconsin say heavy fire damage was done to the Premier Co-op in Lancaster Saturday morning. Firefighters from at least three departments, plus police and EMS, were called to the scene just after 4:30 a.m. No injuries were reported. A day before her third birthday, LaToya Eskridge took a nap at her grandmother's house in Milwaukee after an afternoon of playtime with her sister and cousin. Work began Sunday, Aug. 21 at the River Place Apartments in Brown Deer after a fire Saturday left about 100 displaced. Renters were allowed back in for a short time on Sunday. For so many, the fire brought what really matters into perspective.
