Emergency responders receive railway training on Norfolk Southern Safety Train in Pennsylvania

VIDEO: Active railways are littered throughout south-central Pennsylvania, making the likelihood of an accident almost inevitable. To stay proactive, Norfolk Southern Railway is traveling the east coast to educate first responders on proper response strategies using its own safety train. “We take them out of the classroom and put them on the train itself,” said Connor Spielmaker, the communications manager with Norfolk Southern Railway.

Appleton House Fire Causes Over $100,000 in Damages

More than $100,000 worth of damage was caused by a house fire in Appleton. Crews were called to a two-story home in the 1400 block of North Appleton Street around 9 a.m. Thursday for a report of smoke coming from the roof. Upon arrival, crews saw smoke coming from multiple roof vents. Neighbors reported that the residents were not home.

Interstate 43 northbound in Green Bay reopens following vehicle fire

PHOTO: The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) is reporting a vehicle fire on Interstate 43 in Brown County. According to WisDOT, the vehicle fire on I-43 northbound at East Mason Street in the City of Green Bay and happened around 6:15 p.m. As a result, all lanes were closed while the Brown County Sheriff’s Office and the Green Bay Metro Fire Department deal with the active fire.

Newly released video of exploding New Jersey apartment building shows impact of blast

New video shows the explosion and impact at an apartment building in Newark that injured six people and left 31 people displaced. There is still no word on what caused the explosion on South Pine Lane. The building, managed by Newark Housing Authority, was all but destroyed about 6 p.m. Friday after an explosion rocked the building.

Crane accidents are shockingly common; Here’s why they happen

When a fire broke out in the suspended operator’s cab of a massive construction crane in New York City early Wednesday, it didn’t take long for the structure, which was 45 stories high, to come crashing down. Within minutes, the top of the crane’s boom arm careened over like a falling tree, slamming its tip into the top of a building across the street before swinging down and crashing into the side of the building it had been constructing.

Volunteers interested in moulage training needed to help prepare Texas first responders

Senator holds fentanyl round table as Washington state becomes overdose epicenter

'Misuse of burning materials' starts fire in Manitowoc County

Residents of a home in Manitowoc County safely evacuated their home Tuesday morning after a fire started in the basement. In a release from the Kiel Fire Department, firefighters responded at 3:04 a.m. to a reported structure fire on 928 4th Street in the city of Kiel. Authorities say that crews arrived on scene in six minutes and the residents of the home had already safely evacuated after being awakened by the smoke detectors.

Some hotel workers on site said that all staff and guests got out safely and that guests who were staying at the hotel are being taken care of.

City in Oklahoma to waive utility charges for surviving spouses of first responders killed in line of duty

Edmond will now waive utility charges for the surviving spouses of first responders killed in the line of duty. The City Council just made the vote on Monday night. The Edmond City Council approved the measure unanimously with city officials saying it really wasn’t a hard decision to make. f a police officer or firefighter is killed in the line of duty, their surviving spouse will never receive a utility bill from Edmond ever again, for the rest of their lives.
