Firefighters on Friday morning, Aug. 4 responded to the scene of a house fire near 36th Street and Mt. Vernon Avenue in Milwaukee. The fire spread to a neighboring home.
FOX6 News talked to Dawill Davis. He was able to get his girlfriend and five children out of the home safely. "We were watching tv and my girl saw it first, a spark, and I just saw a little light and flew up in flames," said Davis.

An explosion at a Buena, New Jersey home has left two people dead, two injured and another two missing on Thursday, authorities said.
A 1-year-old girl was airlifted to St. Christopher's Hospital for Children in critical condition. A 16-year-old was also taken there in stable condition.
A 2-year-old boy, 3-year-old girl, 52-year-old man and 73-year-old were also in the home at the time of the explosion.

VIDEO: Dale Cieslinski, 60, is accused of throwing a brick at a Seattle Fire Department ambulance Tuesday afternoon in Wallingford.
“You are a danger to commit another violent crime, so I’m going to set bail at the amount of $75,000,” said the judge during Cieslinski’s first appearance in court.
The crew inside the ambulance was uninjured, though the response time to the call they were on was delayed – obviously, that’s a problem.

AT&T is giving schools access to a new security alert system through FirstNet, the company's dedicated telecommunications network for first responders.

An electrical fire at a downtown apartment early Thursday left four people without a place to live, said an official with the Madison Fire Department (MFD).
Firefighters were called to a 2-flat apartment at 200 South Bedford Street at about 12:50 a.m. Someone in the home said flames and smoke could be seen coming from the bathroom.

Thursday, fire and rescue first responders participated in a training simulation at Chippewa Valley Technical College to work on a special case they don’t see everyday.
Rescue workers trained on a patient, a simulation mannequin, that had fallen from 20 feet high and was electrocuted which, according to Deputy Chief Jon Schultz, is a rare occurrence.

Three firefighters were hospitalized after a fast-moving, wind-driven fire ignited at a junkyard in west Phoenix Wednesday afternoon, according to Phoenix Fire.
Phoenix firefighters were dispatched to the blaze near 27th Avenue and Buckeye Road just before 3 p.m. for reports of a grass fire that may have spread to a fence nearby.

More than 100 people in Alabama died in fires in 2022, and 2023 is on pace to be even worse.
“Unfortunately we’re usually in the top 5 or the top 10 annually,” said Scott Pilgreen, Alabama’s state fire marshal. “In my view, all of them are preventable.”
The Alabama Fire Marshal’s Office reports there were 108 fire fatalities in the state in 2022, and 67 more through July 27 of this year, though that number may be out of date.

The fire happened at about 1:30 near the Brown County courthouse. A tree next to the pole also caught fire and flames spread to a vehicle parked there.

A fiery crash on U.S. Highway 75 in Plano brought traffic to a halt Wednesday morning and also produced heavy smoke in the area, as crews were letting fuel burn off.
The crash and fire happened around 5:30 a.m. in the northbound lanes of Highway 75 near Parker Road. The crash involved a tractor-trailer, and two people were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

It’s a device called Lunar that has multiple applications, not the least of which is firefighter safety in a “MAYDAY” scenario.
