U.S. auto safety regulators have sent a team to investigate a fatal crash in Virginia involving a Tesla suspected of running on a partially automated driving system.
The latest crash, which occurred in July, brings to 35 the number of Tesla crashes under investigation by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration since June of 2016.

Five people were killed and several others injured in a house explosion Saturday in Plum, a suburb of Pittsburgh. The explosion destroyed three structures and damaged at least a dozen others, authorities said.
A person who was initially unaccounted for after the explosion was among the five dead, officials said Sunday.

Dahill dedicated 59 years of service to the department from 1888 to 1947, and left behind an invention that made an extremely difficult job less difficult for all firefighters.
He invented the first aerial ladder hoist, called the Dahill hoist, in 1902.

VIDEOS: A Maryland man led police on a wild chase from behind the wheel of two different trucks and then a stolen ambulance Saturday afternoon, striking multiple vehicles across three different highways, police said.
The suspect caused a multi-car crash on I-395 in a stolen truck before stealing an ambulance that was responding to the scene.

VIDEO: An apartment fire in Whitewater sent one person to the hospital.
The fire, at 137 W Center St., began around 2:20 p.m. Saturday. It began on the roof of the building and was contained there, Whitewater Fire Department explained.
A witness said he was walking his dog when the fire broke out.
“Next thing you know, it’s truck after truck after truck, ambulance safety team and response team, EMS, all that left and right, and I mean just filled the surrounding blocks,” Matthew Richardson said.

A local Fond du Lac restaurant sustained damage in a fire Friday, August 11, 2023.
About 6:25 PM, the Fond du Lac Fire/Rescue Department was dispatched to Boda’s Restaurant at 277 south Pioneer Road for a report of smoke alarms going off and smoke in the basement.
Upon arrival fire crews encountered light smoke and found there had been a fire located in the mechanical room in the basement.

During the attack at the Covenant School, emergency calls to 911 show at least one teacher stepped into the hallway after hearing alarms go off, thinking it could be a fire drill. One proposal in Tennessee’s upcoming special legislative session would change how schools react when the alarm sounds.
According to the bill, HB7002, guns fired inside a school could produce smoke that sets off fire alarms.

Onalaska has a new fire chief.
The city announced that Peter Fletty is the new head of it's fire department.
Chief Fletty is currently the the head of the Marshfield Fire Department.
He's spent his career with Marshfield where he began as a firefighter/paramedic and moving up through Lieutenant, Deputy Chief, and finally Chief.

Seven people need to find another place to stay after a fire caused about $100,000 damage to their home early Thursday morning.
Sheboygan firefighters were called for a chimney fire on the 2500-block of Leon Court shortly before 12:30. What they found were heavy flames coming from the back of the home, and people were still inside the house.

VIDEO/PHOTOS: Silvis firefighters are taking on a new project: restoring an 84-year-old fire engine to its former glory.
The city purchased the American LaFrance engine in 1939 and it was used as a frontline fire engine until 1964. Faded paint on the side shows it was engine #2.
