A 9-year-old girl is dead and an elderly woman is in critical condition following an apartment fire in Milwaukee on Sunday, Nov. 19. Since 2014, firefighters and law enforcement officers from the city and across the county have gotten together to raise money to help veterans from all branches of the service. On Monday, they will reveal a veterans' memorial purchased through their fundraising efforts. Authorities in Manitowoc County are blaming farming equipment as the cause of a four-acre fire on Thursday afternoon. According to Kiel Fire & Rescue, firefighters were sent to the intersection of County Road X and Wilke Lake Road in the Town of Schleswig for a half-acre of cornfield on fire. A driver damaged an ambulance Thursday morning after reversing and hitting the emergency vehicle while they were both pulled over on the interstate, Madison Fire Department reported. Firefighters spent nearly three hours battling an extra-alarm fire that started Thursday morning at a warehouse in the Back of the Yards neighborhood.
