This Day in History: Heaven Hill Distillery in Kentucky burns in devastating fire

VIDEO: On this day in 1996, one of the country’s worst-ever distillery fires began. At the Heaven Hill warehouses in Bardstown, Kentucky, a fire started in the afternoon on Nov. 7 that eventually destroyed nearly 100,000 barrels of bourbon. A storm was brewing in the afternoon, with winds clocking in at 70 mph.

The Central Fire Station of the Killeen Fire Department is a full-purpose building designed for long shifts. The kitchen area, with different refrigerators for firefighters working various shifts, the sleeping areas and even fitness equipment donated by Planet Fitness all showcased the unique and embedded qualities of being a firefighter, which is that it is not a 9 to 5 job.

An alarm, a ladder, and a neighbor: Children escape Fond du Lac house fire

VIDEO: Two teenage girls are being recognized for their quick thinking after escaping a house fire in Fond du Lac. They were home alone early Monday morning and used a ladder to make it out from a second-story window before running to a neighbor to call for help. Fond du Lac firefighters arrived on the scene at 130 West Division Street just after two teenage girls used a ladder to escape from their bedroom window and ran to wake up a neighbor across the street.

PHOTOS: Newly released body camera videos show the emergency response to an explosion at a homeless encampment outside Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. The explosion and subsequent fire happened on the morning of July 21 after witnesses in the encampment reported finding what they believed were improvised explosive devices around a tent where drug users were smoking fentanyl.

‘Freak accident’: Kansas fire chief recalls explosion that engulfed him in flames

Russell fire chief Dylan Riedel now owns the motorcycle gas tank that changed his life forever when it exploded and engulfed him in flames this summer. It’s “just as a constant reminder that your life can change in an instant, so don’t take it for granted,” he said. The explosion happened less than 30 seconds after he got out of his fire truck.

Firefighters battled an equipment fire at a manufacturer of transformers in Waukesha early Sunday, Nov. 5. Emergency crews were dispatched to Prolec-GE on S. Prairie Avenue around 1:40 a.m. Sunday for a reported fire alarm sounding. Plant supervisors directed firefighters to the location and probable source of the fire.

Portage Fire Chief Named First Responder Of The Year For The 41st Assembly District

Fire department in North Carolina begins transition to new state-of-the-art safety station

Lithium battery causes fire call to De Pere Middle School

Baltimore Fire Department details new procedures in battling fires following deaths of two firefighters
