Chemical Safety Board Releases New Video Of 2018 Refinery Explosion, Fire In Wisconsin

VIDEO: A new 20-minute video has been released by the Chemical Safety and Hazard Investigation Board involving the 2018 Husky refinery explosion and fire in Superior. The goal of the board is to “drive chemical safety change through independent investigations to protect people and the environment.” The 2018 incident injured 36 workers, caused roughly $550 million in damage to the facility and released 39,000 pounds of flammable hydrocarbon vapor into the air.

Home in Evansville likely 'total loss' after fire

PHOTOS: A single-family home in Evansville is likely a total loss after an overnight fire, Chief Bob Fahey told 27 News. Rock County Communications told 27 News the call for the fire on the 100 block of North Sixth Street came in around 3:45 Sunday morning. Fahey says there were five people inside the home at the time of the fire, who were all able to escape.

Neighbors help resident escape Beaver Dam home fire, officials report

Neighbors helped a resident escape off the roof of a home after a fire Thursday night in Beaver Dam. The report of a porch fire came in to the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office around 7:25 p.m. on the 200 block of E. Third Street. Crews reported seeing the fire on the first and second floors of the home when they arrived.

Amherst Fire District unveils new mobile trailer

The Amherst Fire District has some new digs for work in the field. The AFD’s 24-foot-long Mobile Medical and Incident Command Center was unveiled last month at the department’s annual pancake breakfast. Assistant Fire Chief Adam Meshak on Wednesday said that the department was awaiting some final implements, but the trailer will be ready for action at the MREA’s annual Energy Fair later this month.

Industrial building fire in Washington destroys 7 businesses

Arsonist who targeted Texas Governor's mansion still at large 15 years later

PHOTOS: A shadowy figure pitched a Molotov cocktail onto the veranda of the Texas Governor's Mansion 15 years ago, then vanished into the night-cloaked oaks. We might never know who torched and nearly destroyed the Texas landmark, now 167 years old, on June 8, 2008. Wisconsin county's cardiac arrest save percentage double the national average

FDNY says ‘no firehouses used to house migrants,’ despite fake memo

An FDNY spokesperson said Wednesday that no firehouses will be used to help address the city’s ongoing migrant crisis despite a fake memo circulating online. Social media users flooded websites with the fake memo, purportedly from Chief of Operations John Esposito, Tuesday night saying that firehouses would shelter migrants in their living quarters under orders from the office of Mayor Eric Adams, but FDNY spokeswoman Amanda Farinacci confirmed Wednesday that it was a fake.
