An elevated section of I-95 collapsed Sunday after a tanker truck carrying 8,500 gallons of gasoline flipped over on an off-ramp and caught fire, igniting a blaze that caused the northbound lanes to collapse and severely damaging the southbound lanes.

Gas leak under control on Madison's east side, evacuation orders rescinded

A road closure and an evacuation order have been rescinded following a natural gas leak on Madison's east side Wednesday. According to a Madison Fire Department spokesperson, the gas leak started at about 7:30 a.m. in the 3800 block of Atwood Avenue. The spokesperson said the leak occurred because of construction in the area.

New Beaver Dam Fire Department Fire Training Facility Starting To Be Assembled

The new Beaver Dam Fire Department training facility is beginning to take shape. Assembly started Tuesday morning at the facility’s location in the 600 block of South Center Street. The building was manufactured in Illinois, where American Fire Training Systems is based. The company designs and constructs fire training towers for departments and military installations around the world.

Mishicot firefighter named 2023 Wisconsin Firefighter of the Year

VIDEO: Mishicot volunteer firefighter John Tulachka was recognized by the state legislature last week for being named earlier this spring the Wisconsin Firefighter of the Year by the State Firefighter’s Association. In the early morning hours of February 25th, 2022, John was driving a snowplow for the city of Mishicot when he got the call for a house fire.

VIDEO: Chicago house destroyed in large fire

An extremely aggressive fire broke out Tuesday afternoon on Chicago's South Side. The Bronzeville building fire has since been put out, though firefighters have continued to pour water on it and are keeping an eye on hot spots. The Chicago Fire Department got the call around 3:40 p.m., and by then, the fire was on all floors of the three-story home in the 4500 block of South Michigan Avenue.

State program in Maine wants to address volunteer firefighter shortage by funding retirement

Two Maine firefighter organizations hope to enroll volunteers from the state’s more than 400 departments in a new retirement program by the end of this year. Three quarters of the state’s fire departments are run by volunteer fire chiefs, who along with other volunteers, are not eligible for retirement benefits because they do not work as full-time firefighters, according to the Maine Fire Chiefs Association.

Firefighters in Ohio call out drivers for cursing crash response

The Brewster Fire Department has a message for the motorists who “screamed at, cursed at and flipped the bird” at firefighters while they were working the scene of a car crash last week. After losing his left leg,Texas firefighter gets chance on NBC’s ‘American Ninja Warrior’

Green Bay: Public safety officials encourage people to install ‘Knox Boxes’

Man dies in fiery Waushara County crash

Door County 911 dispatcher takes call that her own home is on fire

Naval shipyard paramedic in Maine has stroke at 37; Here's what saved him

When Greg Rhinehart, a 37-year-old firefighter/paramedic at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, woke up at 5:30 the morning of Jan. 7, he found he couldn't speak. Not a word. Rhinehart, who was sleeping on base because he was on duty, was the victim of a stroke. But even as a paramedic, he said it took a while to put together the symptoms he was experiencing.
