Milwaukee apartment fire, 2 people hurt

Milwaukee firefighters were dispatched early Thursday, Dec. 21 to an apartment fire near 104th and Fond du Lac on the city's northwest side. Battalion Chief Joel Rechlitz indicated firefighters were dispatched to the apartment building around 4 a.m. Thursday. Initial reports indicated there were two children trapped inside the structure.

Crews respond to structure fire in Buffalo County

No injuries are reported following a structure fire in Buffalo County Wednesday. According to a press release from the Buffalo County Sheriff’s Office, on Dec. 20, 2023, around 11:33 a.m., authorities received reports of a farm shed that was smoking heavily and was on fire at S77 Highway 37, in the Town of Naples.

Apartment fire that displaced hundreds of residents caused by contractor's illegal use of torch, FDNY says

VIDEO: A fire that forced hundreds of people from their homes for the holidays in Queens was caused by a contractor illegally using a torch, FDNY officials say. Fire officials say the contractor was using the torch to heat lead paint off a metal closet door frame when it started to smoke. The fire prompted a massive scene Wednesday afternoon on 47th Avenue in Sunnyside.

Driver crashes into Texas fire truck as firefighters respond to serious crash

VIDEO: A driver was seriously injured Wednesday after crashing into a firetruck responding to another crash, Dallas Fire-Rescue says. According to DFR, at about 11:30 a.m. firefighters were sent to a crash along the 2500 block of Robert B Cullum Boulevard near Fair Park. While specific details about the crash are not yet known, two people involved in the crash were hospitalized.

South Carolina fire department announces medical toolkit reduces patient pain by 50%

The department is excited to share their progress with the pain reliever. So far officials with the fire department said Pro-Nox has been used 20 times and has improved patient care tremendously.

VIDEO: Kenosha I-94 truck fire, WisDOT cameras capture response

A box truck caught fire on I-94 in Kenosha Tuesday afternoon, Dec. 19. It happened around 2:10 p.m. According to the Kenosha County Sheriff's Department, the driver first noticed smoke in the cab and pulled over near the Highway 158 overpass. A sheriff’s deputy arrived to check on the driver. The sheriff's department said, when the deputy turned back to look at the truck, it was fully engulfed in flames.

Fire a Fond du Lac residence causes heavy damage in kitchen area

A two-story residential home sustained damage after a fire on Tuesday evening in the City of Fond du Lac. According to Fond du Lac Fire & Rescue, shortly after 7:00 p.m., crews were sent to the 300 block of North Street for a report of a fire at a residence. Upon arrival, firefighters found flames showing from a first-floor window and smoke emitting from the rear of the building.

A house exploded early Tuesday morning in a West Park neighborhood, reducing it to rubble. It happened in the 5200 block of Southwest 20th Street, just south of Pembroke Road. Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue received word of the blast around 12:30 a.m. When firefighters arrived there was no fire, but there was debris all over the place.

Firefighters in one southwest Missouri city who get cancer will soon be able to get healthcare benefits from new state program

On Tuesday, Dec. 19, the Springfield City Council wasted little time in unanimously approving a set of four bills that joins the city with a statewide pool of funding that provides benefits for firefighters who get any of the 17 different types of cancer the program covers. Known as the Missouri Fire Fighters Critical Illness Trust and Pool, the program was established by a pair of Senate Bills in 2021 and 2022 led by local State Senator Lincoln Hough.

Fire department in Kansas gets unique educational tool

Wausau swears in new fire chief

The transfer of power in the Wausau Fire Department is now official, as Jeremy Kopp has been sworn in as the department's new chief. He admitted it was an emotional moment, and the realization of a lot of dedication. "19 years ago when I started here, if you would have told me that I might be the chief of the Wausau Fire Department one day, I would have told you, 'Not a chance, never going to happen,'" Kopp said.
