10 years ago: Ballpark burns in Michigan

VIDEOS: Wednesday marked 10 years since a fire ripped through what was then Fifth Third Ballpark, forcing the West Michigan Whitecaps to overhaul their plans for the season and rebuild on the fly, all while welcoming fans to the field. The fire started late in the morning on Jan. 3, 2014. Investigators determined that a space heater used by a work crew inside one of the suites along the first base line started the blaze.

Dump truck catches on fire on Highway 41 in Town of Oconto

Oconto Fire & Rescue responded to an early-morning vehicle fire on Highway 41 near the Town of Oconto. At approximately 5 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 3, Oconto Fire & Rescue responded to a call of a dump truck on fire in the southbound lane of Highway 41 near S Range Line Road in the Town of Oconto. The caller said the fire continued flaring up despite using a fire extinguisher on it.

Apartment fire in Racine displaces 3 residents and causes $60K in damage

The Racine Fire Department responded to a fire on Tuesday, Jan. 2 at around 1:35 p.m., which involved a two-story apartment building containing four units. The fire, primarily contained in the attic, resulted in the displacement of three residents. First responders from Engine 2 observed smoke coming from the building's roof.

Residents, dog escape duplex fire in Beloit

PHOTO: Firefighters say the occupants and a family dog got out safely when a duplex caught fire in Beloit. The fire started around 2 p.m. Tuesday in a duplex in the 100 block of Bluff Street, according to a Facebook post by the Beloit Fire Department. Due to the amount of fire, the age of the home and the weather conditions, the fire department called in other agencies for help.

VIDEO: Middle School in Washington, known to be 'dangerous and derelict,' heavily damaged by fire

The former Gault Middle School in Tacoma is on fire early Wednesday morning. The Tacoma Fire Department (TFD) responded to the building at around 4 a.m. Crews chose not to go inside because the building has been designated as "dangerous and derelict." The fire department has responded to multiple fires at this building since it was vacated over a decade ago.

City in New York names first Afro/Latino fire commissioner in its 125-year history

Kiel fire injures six people including one first responder

There’s no evidence of terrorism in the fiery New Year’s Day crash that saw the driver of an SUV stashed with gas canisters speed toward pedestrians and collide with a car, killing two people and injuring several more after a concert in Rochester, New York, police said. The suspect, identified as Michael Avery, 35, of the Syracuse area, died Monday night from injuries sustained in the crash, officials said.

4.8 million BlendJet portable blenders recalled due to fire and laceration hazards

Green Bay apartment fire caused by cooking accident

PHOTOS: One person is recovering and several other people were pushed from their apartment units after one of the units caught fire early Monday morning. Firefighters say they found one person who needed medical attention when they responded, and that person was immediately taken to the hospital. Crews were able to focus most of their attack on the apartment unit where the fire started to keep it from spreading.
