Wausau Fire Department: How closing your bedroom door at night could save your life

VIDEO: To bolster home fire safety, the Wausau Fire Department is emphasizing the importance of “closed-door messaging” in Feb., urging people to close bedroom doors before bedtime. “You want to keep your bedroom door closed so that you’re creating a barrier for heat, smoke, and fire to keep it from spreading throughout your home and getting in while you’re sleeping,” Wausau Fire Department Chief Jeremy Kopp said.

Wisconsin DNR to start winter prescribed burns

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) today announced that fire management crews are starting to perform prescribed burns on DNR properties throughout the state where local conditions can provide a safe and effective burn. DNR crews will be burning cattail marshes, wetlands, prairies and oak/pine barrens to clear the buildup of dead vegetation and to open waterways for waterfowl to feed and nest.

VIDEO: Massive fire engulfs 3 homes in Georgia, forcing evacuations

Families were forced out of their homes after a massive fire broke out early Friday morning in DeKalb County. DeKalb Fire crews responded just after 4 a.m. They say flames ripped through three homes on the 1000 block of Lenox Park Boulevard NE in Brookhaven. Officials say these are large homes that are very close together.

Wilson's Electric Scooters and Sales along Queens Boulevard in Rego Park is where the FDNY says it shut down an illegal lithium-ion manufacturing operation. "Nobody teach me. They don't do nothing but take money, give me ticket," owner Wilson Chen said.

Milwaukee Fire Department Responds to fatal apartment fire

Fire in Suamico causes around $150K in damages and leaves five without a home

Investigators are still working to get into a Philadelphia-area home as at least six members of a family remain unaccounted for after officers responding the prior afternoon to a report a child had been shot there were struck by gunfire and the home set ablaze, a district attorney said. Florida first responders recall Hurricane Charley 20 years later

Delaware: Last Kirlin firefighter retires after family serves Wilmington for over 100 years

Milwaukee Fire Department responds to house fire, no injuries

2 shooting victims seeking help crash into Alabama fire station; 1 dies at hospital

Two shooting victims - a male and a female - were rushed to the hospital after they hit a Birmingham fire station while they were seeking help. One of the victims, the male, was pronounced a short time later at UAB Hospital. In what police called a “chaotic scene,” the ordeal began about 6:40 p.m. when gunfire erupted at the Shell station on the corner of Old Springville Road and Brewster Road.

Forest Service burn boss indicted for reckless burning in Oregon

A Grant County grand jury has indicted U.S. Forest Service burn boss Ricky Snodgrass on a Class A misdemeanor count of reckless burning. Grant County Sheriff Todd McKinley arrested Snodgrass on Oct. 19, 2022, while the fire he was supervising was still burning. It is believed to be the first time a Forest Service firefighter has been arrested in the course of doing their job.
