New tool helps Arizona firefighters extinguish electric car fires in a fraction of the time

VIDEO: There’s a new tool in the Tempe Fire Department’s arsenal that they hope will make the challenge of fighting electric vehicle fires a thing of the past. “It’s very easy to use and it has way less kick back than any of our firehoses,” said Tempe Fire Department Assistant Fire Chief Chris Snow. It’s called the Coldcut Cobra, and like the reptile it references, it helps firefighters strike at the heart of a fire.

Virginia fire museum debuts video tour

A museum documenting the history of the Harrisonburg Fire Department is now equipped with a video tour led by the agency's long standing leader. On July 4th, 1944, an ice delivery truck had a short in its wiring, causing a vehicle fire. Another day, an oil stove blew up, causing over $1,500 in damage.

Rhinelander looking into new municipal building

Beaver Dam Firefighter Dave Schoenberger Promoted To Lieutenant

The Beaver Dam Fire Department is highlighting the promotion of one of their own. Firefighter Dave Schoenberger was promoted to the rank of lieutenant and began his new role on February 21st. Schoenberger began his fire service career serving alongside his father as a paid-on-call firefighter with the Department in 1995.

One person was killed after an enormous fire Monday night at a suburban Detroit warehouse known to stock combustible materials ignited explosions, shook homes and rained down debris as far as a mile away, officials and residents said. Illinois fire protection district hosts table talk for firefighters across the state

Suppression system puts out fire at McDonald's in Madison

Madison firefighters were called to a McDonald's restaurant for a possible fire, but it was put out by a suppression system before they arrived. Spokesperson Cynthia Schuster said firefighters were called to McDonald's at 6910 Odana Road. Upon arrival, the crew noted no one evacuating and no signs of distress from outside.

Madison Fire Department carries new medicine to prevent opioid addiction

VIDEO: Madison Fire Department ambulances, community paramedics and the Community Alternative Response Emergency Services (CARES) team began to carry new medicine on Friday that helps individuals struggling with opioid addiction. The medicine is called buprenorphine. MFD hopes carrying this will prevent opioid use and opioid-related deaths.

VIDEO: Fire spreads to two homes on Chicago's South Side

Kentucky firefighter recounts dramatic rescue of military veteran from dangling semi-truck

Program 'recycles' excess federal equipment to help volunteer firefighters in Nebraska

La Crosse Assistant Fire Chief Jeff Murphy retires after 28 years of service

He was hooked and knew he had to do it full time. He joined the La Crosse Fire Department in 1996 and worked his way up the ranks.

New electric vehicle stickers aim to help first responders across Wisconsin

During traditional car fires powered by gasoline, fire crews would put out the fire with water quickly, usually within 2 to 3 minutes. However, with an electric vehicles, fire crews must take a different approach because electric vehicle fires pose different safety risks compared to gas-powered vehicles.

One of the city's most famous fires occurred in 1908, known as "the night the churches burned," although it had started in an old opera house.
