Teen charged with arson in Sparta Walmart fire

VIDEOS/PHOTOS: A 17-year-old Sparta teen is charged with arson in connection with a fire that caused several million dollars in damage at a Walmart store in late December. Emma R. Smith appeared in Monroe County Circuit Court via Zoom on Monday for her initial appearance in the case. Smith had four charges filed against her including Arson, 1st Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety, Felony Criminal Damage to Property, and Disorderly Conduct.

VIDEOS: Texas farm fire could take days to fully extinguish

New bill would cover cancer screening costs for Oklahoma firefighters

A new bill proposed by State Representative Daniel Pae (R-Lawton) would void costs of medical screenings for Oklahoma firefighters. House Bill 3573 was named "Fighting Chance for Firefighters Act." The yearly screenings covered in the bill are for lung, prostate, testicular, skin, colon and breast cancers.

West Allis Fire Department responds to house fire, 1 person injured

VIDEO: One person was badly burned and taken to the hospital following a structure fire near 71st Street and Orchard Street in West Allis on Jan. 28, according to the West Allis Fire Department. VIDEO: Driver killed in fiery tanker crash in Ohio, causing diesel spill into creek

One person is dead following a tanker crash on SR-8 in Northfield Center Township that left a nearby creek contaminated with diesel fuel. Summit County Inspector Bill Holland says at around 9:15 a.m., the tanker truck was traveling northbound on SR-8 tried to get on I-271, when it lost control and went over the side of the bridge.

2 Texas firefighters injured, jumped from second-floor of apartment complex after man points gun at them

Leaders in one Florida county pushing for firefighter protection law expansion after 2011 explosion, fire

Colorado fire department has largest therapy dog program in the state

VIDEO: West Metro Fire started the dog therapy program four years ago with two dogs, Remmey and Captain. Fast forward to today, the program is the largest in the state, with 11 therapy dogs. “The dogs bring an amazing sense of calmness and excitement to our crews. Stevens Point Fire Department prepares for dangerous ice conditions

Cedarburg Fire Department added 13 volunteers, two full-time members

PHOTO: The Cedarburg Fire Department welcomes their newest members, 13 volunteers, who joined the department in 2023. Several completed courses during the 2023 fall semester at MATC, sponsored by CFD. Five completed the Firefighter 1 course to earn their certification. Melissa (Missy) Demczak successfully took two courses, Firefighter 1 and EMT Basic during the fall semester, which is quite an accomplishment, according to a CFD announcement.
