The La Crosse Fire Department has teamed up with the American Red Cross to make sure the people of the community are safe from fires.
In a national campaign called “Sound the Alarm. Save a Life,” the fire department and Red Cross are providing in=person home fire education and resources.
In some cases, they are even installing free smoke alarms.

The Green Bay Metro Fire Department welcomed ten new firefighters on Friday.
The recruits officially graduated from an eight-week course by completing a series of demonstrations at the NWTC Public Safety Building.
“In the last eight weeks we have spent time covering our administrative policies and procedures, EMS responses, fire training – and fire training is broken down into three different subgroups- engine company operations, truck company operations, and one is special operations,” said Training Captain Jordan Waack.

The Wisconsin Public Service (WPS) Foundation is accepting applications for their Rewarding Responders Grant.
According to a release, the WPS Foundation’s grant assists emergency response agencies by purchasing lifesaving equipment or vital training for their members. WPS is offering $50,000 through its grant this year.

A series of fast-moving fires have destroyed homes and stretched firefighters thin on Long Island Thursday night.
A total of five fires have been reported in Nassau County in the past 24 hours, including the latest fire reported in East Meadow shortly before 8:30 p.m. Dramatic video showed a large flash, in what appeared to have been some kind of an explosion that started the fire.

Though first responders risk their lives by fighting fires and crime every day, an investigation by the News4 I-Team found thousands of public safety personnel in the D.C. region may be risking their safety in another way: by declining to get the COVID-19 vaccine.

Friday is the 36th annual Fallen Heroes Day. It's a day which honors police officers, firefighters, and other emergency personnel who died in the line of duty. Fire crews in Appleton found the body of a man while they battled a fire last night (May 5th).
Crews were called to the 1600 block of South Mayfair Drive at around 11:00 PM, where they battled a fire for about 45 minutes.
After they brought the blaze under control, they found the body of a man said to be the lone occupant of the home.

A toddler sustained serious injuries after she was run over by a tractor Wednesday, May 5, in Fond du Lac County.
Rescue personnel were called to the scene of the accident on Hickory Road around 2:53 p.m. in the town of Byron. According to the Fond du Lac County Sheriff's Office, a 38-year-old Fond du Lac woman was driving a southbound Kubota tractor when she struck a bump, causing the child to fall and subsequently struck by the tractor.

Governor Ron DeSantis announced one-time pandemic bonuses for about 174,000 first responders in Florida Wednesday.

The State Fire Marshal closed 53 cases of arson in 2020, and the office is working to make that number go down.
