Ahead of the Fourth of July holiday weekend Green Bay Metro Fire is stressing safety.
“One of the best ways to stay safe is to watch the community fireworks shows run by the professionals,” said Lt. Shauna Walesh. “Whether it be in downtown Green Bay or one of the other local shows.”
If you do choose to buy and set off your own fireworks, Walesh says you should use common sense.

It's a noble sound of honor, and the Great Highland bagpipes have been around for hundreds of years. That unique sound is known all over the world.
"It takes quite a bit of time to practice and stay good at it," says Kevin Lynch, president of the Greater Milwaukee Police and Fire Pipes and Drums.

VIDEO: Crews rescued residents and knocked down flames at the scene of a five-alarm fire at a Salt Lake City apartment building Monday morning.

City detectives are investigating a shots-fired incident near the Fire Department's Central Station that resulted in a firefighter being grazed by shrapnel or pavement.
Police said that about 8:45 a.m. Saturday, someone fired a handgun from inside a vehicle traveling in the area of 6th Avenue and Jacob Street.

If your childhood dream was to own a fire truck, then it might come true.
The Pennsylvania National Fire Museum in Harrisburg is hosting a raffle to provide one person with a chance to win a vintage fire truck.
Tickets are $100 to enter the raffle. Museum officials say they plan to sell 200 tickets before closing sales.

There has been a lot of recent movement in the upper ranks for the Manchester Fire Department, including the departure of Fire Chief Dan Goonan.
Whenever that happens, a reshuffling takes place as people move up in rank. That means that several city firehouses saw new captains this year.

A 7-year-old girl drowned Saturday night in the Pecatonica River in Lafayette County.
According to Sheriff Reg Gill, the girl and two other young children went into the river near the County M boat landing just west of Woodford. The river’s current swept the girl under the water and the other children could not reach her in time.

Milwaukee Fire Chief Aaron Lipski almost never became a firefighter at all.
His great-grandfather, grandfather and father all served as City of Milwaukee firefighters, but Lipski said he never felt pressured to follow in their footsteps.

Some serious damage was done to a building that once housed a family video store in Waukesha.
It happened around noon on Friday, June 25, near Barney and Broadway Streets.
The Waukesha Fire Department says they're still not sure what happened. The building is flanked by a Marco's Pizza and a Dollar General.

With dry conditions persisting in the Beloit area and across Wisconsin, the Beloit Fire Department wants to remind residents to use legal fireworks safely and take the the drought into consideration.

Two barns in the town of Belgium were deemed a total loss after they caught fire late June 23, according to the Ozaukee County Sheriff's Office.
Sheriff's deputies responded to a report of a barn fire at 5800 Six Mile Road at 11:21 p.m., according to a news release. In an email, Lt. Justin Kaas said property owner George Bush, 60, reported the fire.

Fire crews responded to a house fire near Wentworth and Texas in Milwaukee's Bay View neighborhood Thursday afternoon, June 24. The call came in shortly before 1 p.m. The fire was located in the attic space of an occupied home, however, no injuries were reported.
Multiple witnesses say lightning struck then home, but the fire chief says they are still investigating whether the cause of the fire was from lightning.
