A family of six has their dog to thank for ensuring they got to safety during an overnight fire. The family pet reportedly kept barking early Sunday morning until everyone was warned their Madison home was on fire and they all could escape to safety. The Independence Day blaze, which happened in the 4700 block of Star Spangled Trail, is being blamed on fireworks that were not properly discarded.

Three people are displaced after an RV fire on Madison’s south side Saturday morning. The fire was reported at around 5:14 a.m. when a neighbor saw smoke coming from a parked RV on the 1100 block of Moorland Rd. According to a report, firefighters were able to control the fire within 15 minutes, but the vehicle was completely engulfed.

Afire that apparently began inside a recycling bin burned up siding, causing damage to part of the roof of a home in the White Caps subdivision Thursday night. The fire was reported at 7:37 p.m. and firefighters arriving at the home at 9515 68th Street saw fire coming from the north side of the building, according to Battalion Chief Jeff Johnson of the Kenosha Fire Department.

After more than six months without it, two northern Wisconsin towns are hoping to once again offer ambulance service to residents. The towns of Gordon, Shanagolden and Marengo lost ambulance service in January after their former provider notified six towns last summer that it would not renew their contracts to provide emergency services.

VIDEO: Houston firefighters responded to large fires at two apartment complexes on the southwest side late Thursday. A citizen was burned and two firefighters were treated for medical issues, HFD Chief Samuel Peña later said. Firefighters were on the scene for 15 hours as fire destroyed a hay shed and all of its contents in Chilton. The Chilton Fire Department says Calumet County deputies arrived first to the call at 11:30 Wednesday night and found the shed at Highway 151 and Townhall Road fully involved. It eventually became a four-alarm fire, mostly for tenders.

Highway 151 has reopened to traffic near the scene of a large barn fire in Calumet County. The road was closed between Salm Road and Minahan Road west of Chilton for about seven hours Thursday morning. It reopened to traffic at about 8:30 a.m. The Calumet County Sheriff’s Office says firefighters are still working at the scene and urge drivers to use caution in the area.

Seventeen people were injured Wednesday evening after a planned police detonation of seized illegal fireworks ended in an explosion in South Los Angeles. The Los Angeles Police Department truck explosion occurred at about 7:40 p.m. at East 27th and San Pedro streets.
