A 7-year-old girl drowned Saturday night in the Pecatonica River in Lafayette County. According to Sheriff Reg Gill, the girl and two other young children went into the river near the County M boat landing just west of Woodford. The river’s current swept the girl under the water and the other children could not reach her in time.

Milwaukee Fire Chief Aaron Lipski almost never became a firefighter at all. Some serious damage was done to a building that once housed a family video store in Waukesha. It happened around noon on Friday, June 25, near Barney and Broadway Streets. Two barns in the town of Belgium were deemed a total loss after they caught fire late June 23, according to the Ozaukee County Sheriff's Office. Sheriff's deputies responded to a report of a barn fire at 5800 Six Mile Road at 11:21 p.m., according to a news release. In an email, Lt. Fire crews responded to a house fire near Wentworth and Texas in Milwaukee's Bay View neighborhood Thursday afternoon, June 24. A home north of Hayward is believed to be a total loss after a fire on Tuesday morning. The fire happened just north of Seeley in the Town of Lenroot, in Sawyer County.
