A giant waterslide at a New Jersey waterpark lived up to its name Tuesday, when it went up in flames.
The ride called 'High Anxiety,' went up in flames at Mountain Creek Water Park in Vernon. A spokesperson for the water park says the fire broke out when the park was closed, and there were no reported injuries.

Representatives for Albany’s fire department said if the city doesn’t fix their pay scale, it’s just wasting taxpayer dollars.
Union members told WALB Investigates, that firefighters were given a choice between getting a city-wide raise or fixing issues with the department scale.
Most chose to correct the scale.

Paramedics were put to the test Tuesday at a conference that attracted hundreds of first responders to South Florida.
The paramedic competition was a highlight at the "First There First Care" Conference at the Seminole Hard Rock Casino & Hotel in Hollywood.
Dema Ammar is a student at Palm Beach State College and studying to become a paramedic.

On June 15, 1991, just days before scheduled improvements were to begin, a lightning bolt split and seared the roof of KU’s Hoch Auditorium, sparking a massive blaze.
“The fire started around 3:20 p.m., shortly after a violent thunderstorm began pelting the Lawrence area with heavy rain and pea-sized hail,” said Kansas Alumni magazine.

A large fire south of the Wisconsin border is still burning more than a day later. On Monday, Illinois fire officials called in reinforcements to fight the chemical fire at a plant in Rockton, Illinois.

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources warns that the risk of fire is high due to dry conditions. Firefighters worked to put out a grass fire in Kenosha Tuesday, June 15.

A 36-year-old Fort Atkinson woman has been arrested and charged in connection to a deadly June 11 fire.
Elizabeth Durkee is charged with first-degree intentional homicide, strangulation and suffocation, arson of a building and mutilating a corpse. The suspicious death and residential fire investigation also involved a statewide Amber Alert late Friday night, June 10 that resolved with the safe recovery of the child, shortly after the alert was issued.

Training police officers in emergency medical services and creating a separate countywide paramedic department were among the ideas to come out of an open house that Thiensville village officials hosted last month on the Ozaukee County fire and EMS study.

Drought-like conditions and a series of recent brush fires led local fire officials to declare an immediate ban on outside burning in municipalities in southeastern Wisconsin. VIDEO: Multiple people were hurt after a fuel tanker caught fire and exploded on Sunday near Crowell, Texas. Crowell is about 80 miles west of Wichita Falls.

They may not be the first, but the 10 women who make up Clearwater Fire and Rescue’s team are certainly blazing the trail.
The fire department recently highlighted their 10 female fire personnel – or "firemedics," as they call themselves. "I love working with people, I love being that person people call," said Nina Borders, who has been with the department for four years.

As a fire continues to burn at a chemical plant in suburban Rockton, Kirk Wilson, chief of the Rockton Fire Protection District, says that firefighters stopped putting water on the fire, fearing that water run-off could carry chemicals into the nearby Rock River.
“We stopped some of the water suppression and some of the fire suppression, and we went ahead and let the product burn off due to the fact that the Rock River sits just west of Chemtool, (approximately) 500 yards away,” he said.

The Delaware General Assembly is aiming to help with what volunteer fire departments say is a struggle to get new members. A task force has come up with ten new recommendations and new programs to attract and retain more volunteer firefighters.
Among those recommendations, develop a recruitment and retention training class at the Delaware State Fire School, and establish an program that would assign full-time members to companies in all three counties.

Fire early Monday morning destroyed an Arbor Vitae tavern that was originally built around a rail car.
Arbor Vitae Fire Chief Mike Van Meter said they got the 9-1-1 call at 12:41 a.m. Upon the first unit’s arrival, the back of the Stingrays Bar and Grill was fully engulfed in flames, he said.
Responding mutual aid units came from as far as Eagle River, which sent its ladder truck.

An explosion close to Rockton, Ill. took place at a chemical plant Monday morning.
Large flames from the Chemtool plant caused heavy smoke to cover the air in the area. A mandatory evacuation order is in place for parts of the area, according to the Rockton Police Department.
Rockton Fire ordered the mandatory evacuation, and the notice affects all residents and businesses south of the plant on Prairie Hill Road.

An Evansville firefighter was injured on Saturday while responding to a home for a man not breathing, according to an affidavit filed by an Evansville Police Department Officer.
According to the affidavit, the incident happened Saturday afternoon at a home on Ridge Knoll Drive in Evansville, Indiana, after Evansville Dispatch received a call about a man not breathing.

The race is called the firefighter combat challenge, and puts physical feats in the job description to the test.
