Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is a mental health condition caused by experiencing a traumatic event and effects both military and civilians alike. According to WebMD, nearly eight percent of adults will develop PTSD at some point in their lives.
Doctor Sam Fiala, an Associate Professor at Texas A&M University Central Texas, said the last 15 months has been hard on a lot of people.

FDNY hero Abraham Miller, on a roof six stories above a Manhattan street, heard the screams before spotting something through the flames and billowing smoke: A child’s tiny hand, extended from an apartment window.
As a colleague lowered Miller down by hand with a rope, with the screams of other residents echoing through the darkness, the five-year veteran tried to put the 5-year-old girl at ease.

Appleton firefighters are investigating the cause of a garage fire on Memorial Day.
At 6:30 p.m., firefighters were called to a home in the 400 block of West Foster Street.
Crews found light smoke and flames on the outside back wall. It took about 10 minutes to get the fire under control, according to the Appleton Fire Department.

A landmark for Fall Creek residents and diners throughout the Chippewa Valley burned Tuesday in a blaze that destroyed Chicken Chasers Bar & Grill.
The fire began Tuesday morning and crews spent hours trying to put out flare-ups. All people made it out of the building safely. Officials have not announced a cause.

VIDEO: Firefighters put out a massive blaze at a warehouse in Huntington Park on Monday night, officials said.
The fire was reported around 8:29 p.m. at a shoe factory located at Salt Lake Avenue and E. Gage Avenue, the Los Angeles County Fire Department said.
Aerial video from Sky5 showed heavy fire and smoke could be seen emanating from the commercial structure.

The Southwest Inn fire and building collapse eventually claimed the lives of five firefighters, and it was the single deadliest day for the Houston Fire Department.
Their fellow firefighters gather at the site each year to make sure the fallen lost that day in 2013 aren't forgotten.

Newark firefighters will be dispatched to all life-threatening calls beginning this weekend, officials announced Friday — a change that prompted the city’s fire and police unions to raise concerns about training, equipment and compensation.
University Hospital will continue to provide ambulance services to the city, but firefighters will also be dispatched in life-threatening situations.

Several dogs are dead after a house fire damaged a home near Sparta Sunday night. The Sparta Area Fire District responded to the fire after a passerby reported heavy smoke coming from the home.
The owners were not home but firefighters found several dogs in kennels in the home. Firefighters found 14 adult dogs and 12 puppies that died from smoke inhalation along with two cats.

A 69-year-old Germantown man suffered serious burns while backing a lawn tractor into a shed in Richfield after mowing the grass Saturday, May 29.
It happened around 5:30 p.m. on Pioneer Road.
Deputies and firefighters responded to a report that a small shed on the property was fully engulfed in flames and the man suffered burns to his upper body and face.

The Racine Fire Department was called to a house fire near was dispatched to Park Avenue and 16th Street around 10:30 Friday.
Upon arrival, crews found visible flames coming out of the second-story window. Engine 1 made entry through the side door and advanced the hose to the second-story bathroom and knocked down the rest of the fire.

Crews helped knocked down a residential fire in Janesville on Thursday afternoon.
The Janesville Fire Department responded to a report of a fire on the 1400 block of East Holmes Street shortly after 1:30 p.m.
According to a news release, crews found a small wood residence with flames in the back of the building which extended from a mulch pile and wooden privacy fence up to the second floor of the home.

After serving 30 years on the Southern Door Fire Department, Rich Olson has been chosen as the new fire chief after the interviewing process Wednesday evening. Olson, who served as a captain for the past 17 years, applied for the position after Gary Vandertie stepped down on February 1. Leading 45 volunteer firefighters, Olson says he is honored and proud to represent the men and women serving the Southern Door community.

A crash on the Beltline Thursday afternoon marked the 20th in May, a number law enforcement who patrols the area fears will continue to grow.
A number of factors, including construction as well as more people returning to a daily commute, are easy to explain. Some factors, however, aren’t.
“There was an obvious reduction in traffic enforcement during the pandemic because we reduced the number of discretionary contacts to try to reduce the spread of the pandemic,” said Dane County Deputy Sheriff Steven Mueller.

Over 5.1 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered across Wisconsin, according to the state Department of Health Services.
A total of 5,111,247 doses have been administered throughout the state since December, including 15,090 in the past day.
DHS officials said 47.4% of the state’s population has received at least one vaccine dose, which is 2,758,291 residents.

VIDEO: At least one firefighter was hurt in a crash involving a fire engine responding to a call along Girard Avenue in North Philadelphia on Thursday afternoon.
Police said firefighters and civilians were injured when Engine 29 crashed about three blocks from its Girard Avenue station. At least one firefighter could be seen getting removed from the rubble.

VIDEO: A huge fire broke out Thursday night at the site of the former "Just For Fun" roller rink in north suburban McHenry.
The roller rink at 914 N. Front Street closed last fall. The rink closed last fall after more than 70-years in business. It started out as a dance hall and was converted into a roller rink a few years later.

The structure was built in 1897. In those days it was horses that pulled the engines.
