Flames Burst From Burning Tire Shop In New York; No Injuries, Firefighters Say

VIDEO: Flames and smoke filled the sky during a fire at a tire shop in Brooklyn early Friday morning. The FDNY is still trying to figure out how the massive fire on Church Avenue at East 57th Street in East Flatbush started, CBS2’s Jenna DeAngelis reported. Cellphone video shows the blaze. Fire officials on the scene said racks of tires and debris were burning.

Vandalism mars South Carolina fire station dedicated to 9 killed in 2007 furniture store blaze

VIDEO: Vandals defaced the city of Charleston’s Fire Station No. 11 in West Ashley on the eve of the anniversary of the deadly Sofa Super Store blaze. City officials said at a news conference June 17 they would not allow the crime to overshadow the June 18 anniversary of the fire, which killed nine Charleston firefighters in 2007.

Florida fire department among first to use Ring doorbell for fire safety

Ring’s “Neighbors” application allows first responders and community members who download the app to easily exchange information about local incidents. Rescued pitbull training in Tennessee to become second arson detection K-9 pitbull in the U.S.

A pitbull picked up off the streets of New York City is getting another chance at life, with a nonprofit at her side. Zoey, the pitbull, is was originally dropped off at a shelter in NYC. Workers there labeled her unmanageable and said she was not a good candidate for adoption. She was sent to a rescue in Florida called Dogs Playing for Life, where workers started working to train her.

'I'm very fortunate to be here today': Platteville burn victim shares his story about fire safety

Green Bay Metro Fire Department Captain retiring after 35 years

Captain Jon “JFred” Fredrickson has served the community in the City of Green Bay and the Village of Allouez and Bellevue for the last 35 years, beginning his career on March 26th, 1986 as an EMT Paramedic.

Woman charged with killing grandmother, starting house fire

A woman is accused of killing her grandmother by suffocation and setting her house in Fort Atkinson on fire days later. Elizabeth Durkee told investigators the 72-year-old woman was in ill health, spent most of her time in bed and wanted to die, so on June 7 she covered her grandmother's nose and mouth with duct tape and she eventually stopped moving, according to a criminal complaint filed in Jefferson County.

Large fire burns at vehicle recycling business in South Carolina

VIDEO: Firefighters are battling a large fire which broke out Wednesday afternoon at a Cherokee County vehicle recycling facility. The fire happened at Carguts just off Highway 5 near US-29 just east of Blacksburg. No injuries have been reported in the fire but one firefighter was treated for heat exhaustion.

Fire Department Running Out Of Time To Save ‘Spirit Of Oklahoma’ Fire Truck

11-year-old raises $112K to buy CPR devices for four Michigan fire departments

Chief: Indiana apartment fire highlights weakness in building codes

Double play for Egg Harbor Firefighters

The Egg Harbor Fire Department was kept busy with a pair of blazes still under investigation on Wednesday. A little after 11 a.m., firefighters headed to a trailer fire on West Carlsville Road where they found it fully engulfed. Egg Harbor Fire Chief Andy Staats said it appears it started in a back bedroom but no cause has been determined.

Two families displaced by Madison apartment fire; sprinklers credited with limiting damage

Two families were displaced from their westside apartments Tuesday night after a fire broke out in one of the units. Madison fire officials said they responded to the 7900 block of Tree Lane around 10:15 p.m. for a water flow alarm. When crews arrived at the apartment complex, they found the fire alarm ringing and residents evacuating the 45-unit building.

Eight displaced by fire in Green Bay

Eight people were displaced by a fire at a three-family home in Green Bay Tuesday night. There are no reports of injuries. At about 8:48 p.m., Green Bay Metro firefighters were called to 909 Day Street on the city’s east side. They arrived to find heavy smoke, heat and fire on the second floor of the home.

VIDEO: Giant waterslide goes up in flames in New Jersey

A giant waterslide at a New Jersey waterpark lived up to its name Tuesday, when it went up in flames. The ride called 'High Anxiety,' went up in flames at Mountain Creek Water Park in Vernon. A spokesperson for the water park says the fire broke out when the park was closed, and there were no reported injuries.

Georgia firefighter union says fix pay scale or waste tax payer money

Representatives for Albany’s fire department said if the city doesn’t fix their pay scale, it’s just wasting taxpayer dollars. Paramedics Take Part in Chaotic Competition at First Responders Conference in Florida
