House a total loss after fire in Merrill

PHOTOS: A Merrill house is a total loss after a Thursday morning fire. At about 8:15 a.m. Thursday, the Merrill Fire Department was dispatched to N3000 block of South End Road in the Town of Rock Falls for a house fire. The owner was the sole person home at the time and he was outside and uninjured in the fire, according to a Facebook post from Merrill Fire Department.

1 person arrested in connection to 3 separate fires in Rothschild

Mountain Bay Metro Police Chief Jeremy Hunt confirms one person was arrested in connection to three separate fires in Rothschild Thursday. Lt. Dan Conrad from the Rothschild Fire Department said crews responded to a trailer fire outside the Rothschild Pavilion around 2:30 a.m. Then about 30-45 minutes later, the department responded to another fire a short distance away at 1016 E.

Samsung is recalling 1 million stoves to prevent pets from setting homes on fire

Samsung is recalling knobs on some of its electric stoves, warning that fires can be set off if pets — or even humans — bump into them. Several videos have shown pets accidentally igniting fires from jumping onto stoves and pawing at the knobs. A Colorado dog set off a house fire in June by doing just that, when the boxes on top of the stove caught on fire.

Madison firefighters find used fireworks after garbage truck fire on city’s east side

Spent fireworks were found after a garbage truck fire Tuesday on the city’s east side, Madison Fire Department reported. MFD said a city garbage truck driver was driving when he saw smoke coming from the back of his truck. He pulled over onto S. Marquette St. and called police. Officials said the driver tried to put out the fire with an extinguisher.

VIDEO: 2 Killed In Fiery Semi Crash On I-44 In Oklahoma

A semi crash early Wednesday killed two people on I-44 near Catoosa. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reports a UPS semi, towing three trailers, stalled in the middle lane of I-44 at 177th East Avenue. A second semi hit it from behind, veered to the side, and caught fire. The driver of the second semi, and passenger, were killed.

Fire department in Indiana gets creative with UTV on 911 calls amid construction

Wausau firefighter injured after department responds to business fire

An early morning fire at a Wausau business resulted in injuries for a firefighter from the Wausau area. According to a press release, it happened at eight in the morning on Tuesday as firefighters were called to a fire at Lucky Mai’s in the 100 block of S. Third Ave. No one was in the building as firefighters entered after smelling smoke and discovered flames emanating from the basement.

Arpin firefighter responds to fire at his own home

For firefighters responding to fires, it's a draining job, but when it's your own house, it's what Caleb Connor would call 'indescribable'. Saturday started like any regular Saturday for the Connors family. Caleb, a volunteer firefighter, had just responded to a structure fire, and was headed to a local truck pull to supply Fire and EMS service at the event.
