A Jefferson home suffered heavy smoke damage after a fire Monday morning. Jefferson Fire & EMS Chief Ron Wegner said a 911 caller reported seeing smoke showing at the home on the 100 block of N. Jackson Avenue. He said the home owner played a big part in getting the fire put out quickly. “One of our assistant chiefs was actually driving by and was able to assess,” Wegner said.

The Milwaukee Fire Department took to social media on Thursday, Aug. 15 to announce that Fire Chief Aaron Lipski has been named the 2024 Fire Chief of the Year by the International Association of Fire Chiefs—Great Lakes Division. Lipski was nominated for the award by Fire and Police Commission Director Leon Todd, with support from the MFD Chief Officers Association.

Janesville Fire Department responded to a fire that damaged a residential building and displaced ten people early Saturday morning. According to JFD, it was actually Janesville Police officers who discovered the fire at the back of the building. The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man after he fired shots at fire and EMS officials and then fled from the scene in a fire vehicle. Roads have reopened and there is no longer a threat to the public after a propane leak near 4400 Sycamore Avenue Thursday afternoon. The leak was reported at 2:29 p.m. Roads reopened at 4:20 p.m. The Madison Fire Department said the leak involved a 1,000-gallon tank with a broken valve. The tank at the time had roughly 300 gallons of propane in it.

Hartford Fire & Rescue responded to Wayside Drive for the report of a tree that fell and landed on a car and a house, with downed power lines arcing and smoking. Upon arrival, firefighters found the downed power lines to be actively arcing on the house. Hartford Fire & Rescue firefighters assured that all occupants of the house had evacuated, and made entry to check for fire extension.

VIDEO/PHOTOS: A logging truck flipped over in a crash that left its trailer hanging over a wall on a highway in New Hampshire on Friday morning. The southbound side of Interstate 293 near Exit 6 in Manchester was closed to traffic following the wreck, according to New Hampshire State Police. The truck driver and the driver of a sedan also involved in the crash were taken to Elliot Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
