The Egg Harbor Joint Fire Commission has selected Justin MacDonald from four qualified candidates to be the next fire chief for the Egg Harbor Fire Department, which serves both the Village and Town of Egg Harbor.
MacDonald brings more than 25 years of fire service and knowledge to the position. He joined the Egg Harbor Fire Department as a firefighter in 1996 and was promoted to lieutenant in 2009.

Madison police and firefighters will duke it out on the ice this weekend for a cause close to many of their hearts. The 5th Annual Battle of the Badges event is taking place Saturday, March 26 from 3:00-8:00 p.m. at the Madison Ice Arena on Forward Drive.

Crews from Sun Prairie responded to a townhouse building fire Tuesday evening, which caused an estimated $75,000 in damage.
Sun Prairie Fire & Rescue was initially dispatched to the 200 block of Talon Place for report of smoke in a four unit townhouse building.
Upon arrival, firefighters did not notice any signs of smoke or fire from the street, according to Sun Prairie Fire & Rescue.

The city's fire chief is set to retire next month according to a resolution heading before the Finance & Personnel Committee in April.
According to the resolution, Fire Chief Ken Gilliam informed the Police and Fire Commission that he intends to retire on Friday, April 15.
The resolution was short-circuited by Mayor Mitch Reynolds to authorize the La Crosse Common Council to appoint an interim chief effective the day after Gilliam's retirement.

According to the Beloit Fire Department, on March 22 around 3:45 a.m. crews responded to a semi that was on fire on I-90 southbound. The highway at the time was backed up.

Intense body cam footage captured the moments one of two deputies fell through the ice on a lake in Barron County Sunday.
Two deputies with the Barron County Sheriff's Department were attempting a rescue after reports that a snowmobiler, now identified as 38-year-old Matt Ludvik of Menomonie, had fallen through the ice on Prairie Lake.

Broken Arrow is celebrating one of its firefighters. He’s become the department’s first Smoke Diver.
The Oklahoma Smoke Diver Association is one of only three Smoke Diver programs in the United States.
Oklahoma’s program is in its second year and now 11 more firefighters have the designation including Broken Arrow’s own Wade Ambrose.

On Wednesday, March 30, 1977 one of the largest disasters to hit Lyons occurred when a massive fire completely destroyed the historic four-story Paaske Furniture building at 65 Main Ave.
The strong winds spread the fire onto the adjoining Potts Jewelry Store at 71 Main Ave. That historic building also was destroyed.

Just after 3:00 p.m., people driving nearby on highway 29 spotted the flames and called 911 to report it. According to the Chippewa Fire District, the homeowner on 45th avenue in the Town of Lafayette was distilling maple syrup.

Two firefighters are hurt after a massive fire at a Pepsi warehouse in Piscataway, New Jersey. At one point, the blaze was so big, several people in the neighborhood said they heard loud explosions.
As CBS2's Elijah Westbrook reported, firefighters worked throughout the night to put out hotspots.
One was treated at the hospital for heat exhaustion, and the other for a shoulder injury.

VIDEOS: Multiple fire departments were on the scene of a very large fire at the PepsiCo factory in Piscataway on Tuesday evening.
The fire broke out just after 6 p.m. outside the factory on New Brunswick Avenue. The fire sent large plumes of black smoke into the sky, which could be seen for miles.

The New York Fire Department announced that they will begin using robot dogs made by engineering company Boston Dynamics in the department’s search-and-rescue missions.
Each $75,000 robot dog, known as Spot, will be controlled by a human operator and will be able to collect images and data.

Milton firefighters returned Monday to an upgraded Fire Station 41, having spent months being hosted by their Roswell colleagues while needed mold remediation work was completed.
Station 41, at the intersection of New Providence Road and Arnold Mill Road/State Route 140, closed last November after an air quality assessment found high levels of black mold spores in its bunk room and elevated levels in its common areas.

VIDEO: The Cambridge Volunteer Fire Department announced the passing of Second Assistant Chief Randy North on Facebook on Saturday.
