Pandemic inspires Pennsylvania dad to become a firefighter

Sometimes, a life-changing experience can come from seemingly out of the blue. At least it appeared that way for Joshua Everetts, age 43, of Jenkintown. He lived in South Philly with his wife, Jovanna, for 15 years, but the two had decided that once their son, Raylan, was of school age that they would move out of the city to Jenkintown.

Driver hospitalized after being pulled from burning vehicle in Madison

A Madison Fire Department spokesperson says one person was hospitalized after a crash on Raymond Road near Gilbert Road. The crash happened around 5:15 p.m. Tuesday. Witnesses called the fire department, that a car had hit a tree. While firefighters responded, bystanders tried to pull the driver from the car.

Three bills address Wisconsin EMS reimbursement and PTSD in first responders

From mental health to money, the Wisconsin EMS Association and local first responders are praising a package of bills that will address PTSD among the ranks and Medicaid reimbursement for uncompensated costs. The bipartisan proposals were approved unanimously by the state senate. When the alarms sound, first responders answer the call.

Neillsville Fire Department Responds to Dump Truck on its Side

The Neillsville Fire Department responded to a dump truck tipped on its side. According to the Neillsville Fire Chief Matt Meyer, they received the call about the dump truck around 2:12pm on Monday. The accident occurred just north of the intersection of Highway 95 and Clark Avenue in the Township of Levis.

Driver crashes into Milwaukee fire station

VIDEO: A driver crashed into the Milwaukee Fire Department station near Locust and Teutonia Monday night, March 14. This station was recently shut down after engineers found structural issues with the building. The cause of the crash is under investigation. It's unclear whether there were any injuries.

Man, 62, dies in Milwaukee apartment fire

Fire investigators are trying to determine how a fatal fire began Saturday in a south side apartment building. Officials said the fire broke out on South 44th Street near the West Kinnickinnic River Parkway just before 6:30 p.m. Saturday. Cleaning crews worked calmly and carefully Sunday to remove the black smoke.

VIDEO: Farm in Ohio catches fire after several explosions

Several explosions lead to a fire at the Timbuk Tree Farm in Licking County early Tuesday morning. Firefighters at the scene said explosions within one building happened at the farm located on the 2000 block of Timbuk Road in Granville around 2 a.m. Three buildings that have offices and products that were being shipped out are on fire, as well as the shipping area.

Tennessee firefighter DNA powers 9/11 research

DNA from more than 200 Nashville firefighters was used to study the long-term health of 9/11 first responders at the World Trade Center. A new study featuring research from Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) used the samples to determine 9/11 first responders were more likely than their peers to have a genetic mutation that can cause blood cancers or cardiovascular disease.

Former Red Sox pitcher graduates from Massachusetts Firefighting Academy

A former Boston Red Sox pitcher who appeared in games during the club’s run to a World Series victory in 2018 recently graduated from the Massachusetts Firefighting Academy, officials announced Monday. Justin Haley, who pitched in four games during that season, graduated from the academy on Feb. 28, according to West Newbury Fire Chief Michael Dwyer.

Pennsylvania firefighters donate gear to fellow first responders in war-torn Ukraine

Michigan fire department offers unique, specialized training for firefighters, EMS and police

Firefighters, EMS and police nationwide are taking notice of the Village of New Haven’s fire department, as the facility has been authorized as a National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians (NAEMT) Tactical Emergency Casualty Care (TECC) training center. “We are the only NAEMT authorized facility in metro Detroit,” New Haven Fire Chief Daniel Stier said.
