A father and his 2-year-old were safe after the toddler was tossed to safety from a second-story window during an apartment fire in New Jersey on Monday, authorities said.
The rescue, which was was captured on video from different angles, involved officials from the South Brunswick Township Police Department and Chief Chris Perez of the Monmouth Junction Fire Department.

Though the Alexandria Fire Department doesn’t have any female firefighters, the city’s Board of Works and Safety on Monday voted unanimously in favor of a contract that would double the number of weeks for paid maternity leave from four to eight.
Capt. Adam Matson said the newly approved contract also provides three days of paternity leave.

In 2010, an East Tennessee firefighter by the name of Michael Robinson saw first-hand how hot a burning building can be when he almost watched his partner die from overheating.
“We didn’t have anything to help us cool off. We had some lukewarm bottles of water, a cold towel around his neck and it could have turned out a lot different but we saved him,” said Robinson.

Two people were forced to jump from the second floor window, a 50-year-old man was killed and several others are suffering from severe injuries after a four-unit residence caught fire in Waukesha early Tuesday morning.
The Waukesha Fire Department said in an update that an unnamed 50-year-old man has died after being brought to the hospital with critical injuries.

Firefighters battled explosions during a two-alarm fire at a Milwaukee recycling and welding facility near 30th and North on Monday evening, March 7.
It happened shortly before 6 p.m.Responding crews found fire on the first and second floor of the building. One worker was on scene at the time. According to fire officials, dangerous chemicals in the building caused several explosions.

A car went into a ditch and rolled over several times on southbound Racine Avenue around 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, according to the New Berlin Fire Department.
The car landed on its roof and the Jaws of Life were needed to free the one person inside, according to a news release from the fire department. The patient was taken to the Level 1 Trauma Center at Froedtert in Wauwatosa, the release said.

Atown of Deerfield home suffered $200,000 damage in a fire Saturday night, the Dane County Sheriff’s Office reported.
At about 7:15 p.m. on Saturday, sheriff’s deputies and fire crews from McFarland, Lake Mills and Deer Grove responded to a house fire in the 3400 block of Prairie Drive in the town of Deerfield, the Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.

Middleton Fire officials responded to the Club Tavern & Grille early Sunday morning for report of a fire on the roof.
According to MFD, crews were dispatched to the Middleton business around 12:30 a.m.
Once on scene, firefighters identified a small fire on the roof and were able to contain it to an area in the wall.

Two adults and four children were displaced Thursday following a fire in their town of Freedom home.
Firefighters from multiple agencies battled heavy fire that broke out Thursday morning in the kitchen of the home.

An explosion and fire at a Silver Spring-area apartment complex on Thursday brought back memories of a fatal explosion in 2016 that killed seven people and displaced nearly 70.
Thursday’s explosion and fire happened at Friendly Garden Apartments at 2423 Lyttonsville Road. About a dozen people were injured, including 10 who went to area hospitals.
