Colorado fire department debuts new emergency response system for 911 calls

As of Tuesday, some Colorado Springs residents may hear something different when they call 911. "A unit will respond when a unit is available," call takers will say to residents in the south part of town who contact the emergency service for non-emergency situations — for example, when symptoms indicate the flu, a sprained ankle or a fractured hip.

Ohio fire station undergoing emergency masonry project to avoid ‘catastrophic failure’

City of Lake Mills purchases ambulance as it considers taking over EMS operations beginning 2023

The City of Lake Mills has decided to move forward with purchasing an ambulance as it looks to the future of emergency medical services without the Lake Mills EMS. However, what the service model looks like is still up in the air. The Lake Mills City Council conducted a special meeting on Feb. 23 with the only action item listed was the purchase of an ambulance.

Garage fire in Janesville causes $650,000 in damages

Small wheels for quick responses to Mardi Gras emergencies in Alabama

Town of Burke residential fire causes estimated $175K in damage

Staffing shortages, increased call volume means extra work for West Bend firefighters

Fire departments across the state of Wisconsin and the country are having to respond to an increased number of calls while many are dealing with staffing shortages. The five-year stretch between 2016 and 2020 saw a call volume increase of just over 12% for the West Bend Fire Department. In 2021, department members say units from the three stations in the city responded to roughly 4,800 calls.

VIDEO: 2 Die As Small Plane Crashes Into Pennsylvania Neighborhood
