VIDEO: A one-of-a-kind restoration project is finally complete. The Canton Volunteer Fire Department spent more than 25 years bringing one of its trucks back to life. A piece of history has made its way home. “History’s good for some things (laugh). It’s nice to let everybody reminisce how things were and how things have changed,” Canton Fire Chief Nate Laubach said.

Update: Second body found in rubble of Sturgeon Bay bar

The Sturgeon Bay Police Department says a second body was recovered from the burned-out rubble of Butch’s Bar Thursday afternoon. This follows the recovery of a body earlier in the day. Both victims were male, and both remains are being taken to Madison for positive identification. No names will be made public until the identities are confirmed and their families have been notified, police said.

House fire in Green Bay injures one person

One person was injured Wednesday in a house fire on the city’s east side. Fire crews responded around 11 p.m. to a house fire in the 1400 block of Eliza Street, according to Green Bay Metro Fire Department. Fire officials said crews arrived to smoke and flames coming from the first and second floor of the home.

Driver seriously injured after vehicle crashes in Grafton

One person is in serious condition following a crash in Grafton. It happened around 8:57 p.m. near Green Bay Rd. and Hickory St in the town of Grafton. According to the fire department, firefighters found one vehicle off the roadway with heavy damage. Two citizen were rendering aid to a semi-conscious patient.

VIDEO: Two people injured escaping apartment fire in California

Two people jumped out of a second-story window to escape a fire in South Land Park Thursday morning. Sacramento Fire Battalion Chief Dave Lauchner said fire crews were called to the complex along Land Park Drive near 43rd Avenue around 4 a.m. Upon arrival, they discovered heavy fire on the backside of the apartment building.

Drone operator who harassed Virginia firefighters sentenced to probation

The operator of a rogue drone that harassed Salem firefighters from the air was put on probation for two years Tuesday. “It was an absolutely stupid mistake,” James Russell Weeks III said during a sentencing hearing in Roanoke’s federal court. “I totally regret the decision I made.” Weeks, 40, had earlier pleaded guilty to operating an unregistered aircraft the day he piloted his drone over a Salem fire station, swooping down repeatedly on firefighters and police officers who were gathered outside.

Fire Department in Colorado Using Ultrasound To Aid Diagnosis In The Field

South Metro Fire Rescue (SMFR) covers 287 square miles and serves 540,000 residents of the southern metropolitan area of Denver. During 2021, SMFR responded to 44,760 in-district incidents and 29,422 or 66% of those were medical; 20,458 of the medical calls resulted in transport to the hospital. When safely possible, SMFR administers medical assistance in the field that assists and hastens patient care upon arrival at the hospital.

Suspect dead; sought in Racine firefighter death, officials say

The Racine Police Department said on Wednesday, Feb. 23 that a suspect who was identified in the homicide of Racine Firefighter Christopher Lalor is dead. A Florida sheriff's office found the suspect, identified as 51-year-old Peter Lui, dead of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. Racine Police Chief Maurice Robinson on Tuesday offered few details on the investigation – hoping to protect it.

Milwaukee Fire Department's first Black female Deputy Chief inspiring next generation

There is only one woman with the title Deputy Chief within the Milwaukee Fire Department. She's also the first and only Black woman to hold such a prestigious position. State allocation to boost Beloit Fire Department funding

The Beloit Fire Department says it will receive increased grant funding this year to support training and equipment upgrades following a state allocation of federal pandemic aid to support first responders across Wisconsin. In his State of the State address, Democratic Governor Tony Evers announced a plan that would allocate a portion from $20 million in American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funding towards the state’s Funding Assistance Program (FAP) that provides annual grants to all public ambulance service providers.

Two ambulances in Washington County get stuck responding to emergency, freed after salting by hand

Two ambulances in Washington County were not able to get to an emergency call after they got stuck, and had to be freed by using salt. According to the Jackson Fire Department, both ambulances tried to respond to a call, but were not able to get to the person because of the roads. Thankfully, a Washington County Sheriff’s deputy was able to get to the person and bring them to the hospital.

Home near Bangor 'a total loss' in fire

Rescue crews from several departments responded to a house fire near Bangor Tuesday afternoon. It was north of Bangor just off Highway 162. West Salem was among those called in for assistance. The damage though was too extensive which led fire officials to call the home a total loss. The homeowner was at work when the fire broke out.

VIDEO: 2 firefighters injured, 1 seriously, battling blaze at New York supermarket

Two firefighters were injured while battling a blaze at a grocery store in the Bronx Tuesday night. FDNY officials say the fire started just after 5 p.m. in the basement and first floor of Bravo Supermarket on Archer Street in the Van Nest section. They say the fire grew to four alarms and nearly 40 units and 170 firefighters worked to put it out.

Baltimore councilwoman wants firefighter body cameras, new rules to enter vacant homes in wake of deadly blaze

Following the death of three Baltimore firefighters this year in the collapse of a vacant home, a member of Baltimore City Council has proposed a bill creating restrictions on when firefighters can enter vacant buildings and requiring firefighters to wear body cameras. The bill, introduced by Councilwoman Danielle McCray Tuesday evening, would bar city firefighters from entering vacant buildings if 25% or more of the structure has been consumed by fire.

After 175 years, a reflection on natural disasters at the University of Iowa

Across the University of Iowa’s 175-year history, the campus community has experienced a wide-range of disasters including tornadoes, flooding, and fires. The most impactful events include the 2008 flood and fires at South Hall, the old library building, and the Old Capitol Building. The 2008 flood inflicted $750 million in damage to 22 campus buildings including the old Hancher Auditorium building, which was destroyed in 2013, and the Art Building, which has since been decommissioned.

Remembering Racine firefighter Chris Lalor

On Tuesday, member of the Racine Fire Department came together to remember Firefighter Chris Lalor who was killed over the weekend in what police are calling a homicide. Police said the 911 call came from Lalor's mom when she found him at a home. Officials haven't named a suspect, but say they have identified a person of interest.

Update: Body found in Sturgeon Bay bar fire rubble, officials say

A body has been found in the rubble of a Sturgeon Bay bar that burned early Tuesday, police said. Investigators were still trying to determine the whereabouts of one other individual who was still unaccounted for after a blaze broke out at Butch's Bar, Assistant Police Chief Dan Brinkman said in a statement.
