U.S. regulators on Tuesday authorized another COVID-19 booster for people age 50 and older, a step to offer extra protection for the most vulnerable in case the coronavirus rebounds.

The Madison Fire Department Hazardous Incident Team and other agencies responded to the scene of a fuel spill Saturday afternoon.
Crews were dispatched to the 3700 block of Commercial Ave. around 1:39 p.m. Saturday after the diesel tank of a semi truck was accidentally punctured.

A Milwaukee firefighter rescued a family of four from an apartment fire on the city's northwest side this afternoon on March 27.
It happened near 104th and Fond du Lac at about 1:30 p.m.

Fond du Lac fire crews put out a small fire inside a Mercury Marine plant early Sunday morning.
Crews responded to Mercury Marine Plant 17 in the 500 block of W. Pioneer Road for a reported fire near a machine inside the facility, according to a spokesperson with Fond du Lac Fire and Rescue. PHOTOS: A dog that was stuck on an icy lake in Beaver Dam is now safe and sound Friday after being rescued by firefighters.
The Beaver Dam Fire Department posted on Facebook that its team’s ice rescue training came in handy to save the dog on Beaver Dam Lake.
Crews used an inflatable boat attached to a rope to reach the dog that appeared to be stuck in the middle of the body of water.

The city's Fire and Police Commission on Friday appointed a 24-year department veteran as the new fire chief.
Peter Fletty took the oath of office at 8 a.m. Friday, shortly after the commission selected him with a unanimous vote.
The Marshfield Fire and Police Commission could have hired someone from outside the department to be the next chief but chose instead to promote Fletty, said Mike Meyers, commission president.
