Festive Foods is a food processing plant that makes frozen pizzas. It’s located south of Amherst, near the Waupaca and Portage county line. ‘Thank God they were there’: Rescue from fiery crash on interstate near Lodi bonds strangers

When an eight-vehicle crash left Ross Kopfer and his 11-year-old son trapped in their Ford F-150 pickup, the hood in flames, they never imagined passersby would save them. But as some onlookers captured video on their smartphones of the bloody scene on Interstate 39-90-94 near Lodi, a truck driver, a mom and her two young adult children rescued the injured Kopfers seconds before their vehicle exploded, saving two lives on June 12, 2020, in a chain-reaction collision that killed four.

Wisconsin EMS encouraged to apply for flex grant funding

The state Department of Health Services announced Monday that it will begin receiving requests for applications for $12 million dollars in EMS Flex Grant funding recently unveiled by Gov. Tony Evers alongside an additional $22 million investment toward emergency response in the state. This investment comes from the American Rescue Plan Act Coronavirus State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds.

VIDEO: Fire Chief says Texas hotel a ‘total loss’ after massive fire

An investigation is underway to determine how a large fire spread through a Kilgore hotel Monday night. Multiple fire crews were called around 8 p.m. to the Best Western Inn of Kilgore, located on business Hwy 259 near Walmart. Kilgore Fire Chief Mark Henderson said the fire started in one of the rooms on the west end of the hotel.

New York City Fire Department calls for help with doxing

Law adds MRSA to Chicago firefighters’ disability benefits

Milwaukee dive team searching for child, 2 men missing in drainage ditch near 27th and Loomis

A dive team responded to the area near 27th and Loomis Monday, June 13, in search of an 11-year-old child and two men who authorities say were swept into a drainage tunnel. In a press conference Monday evening, authorities said a preliminary report indicates that an 11-year-old child slipped into the drainage ditch leading into the Kinnickinnic River.

Twenty Waupun homes evacuated after gas main struck

The Waupun Fire Department is investigating why a gas main was struck during street reconstruction Friday, resulting in the evacuation of 20 homes. Fire Chief B.J. Multi-agency training drill tests emergency response to `active shooter' scenario at Bristol Renaissance Faire grounds

Man arrested after starting fire at Satanic Temple in Massachusetts

VIDEO: People inside the Satanic Temple said they got notifications on their phones from their doorbell camera. Someone was on the porch, and the video showed he was lighting the place on fire. The video showed a man walking from Bridge Street onto the property at about 10 p.m. Friday. In the video, the man walked onto the porch, dropped a backpack and started pouring flammable liquid, according to police.

Ohio communities creating a 'first' to protect EMS personnel at crash scenes

A collaboration between three Butler County communities is the first in the region to provide a vehicle to be used exclusively to protect first responders at crash scenes. Virginia fire department teams with a research university to help overcome language barriers

The situation can become overwhelming and scary for anyone who doesn’t understand what is going on and can’t provide information. One dead following fire in downtown Madison apartment

One person was found dead after an apartment fire in Downtown Madison Sunday morning, according to the Madison Fire Department. Around 5:40 a.m., MFD was called to 730 Braxton Place to investigate an odor in the building. Firefighters arrived and searched the building for the source, and found an apartment unit with evidence of fire that had been self-extinguished.

Man gets 40 months for starting fire during Kenosha protest

A federal judge has sentenced a Racine man to 40 months in prison for starting a fire that destroyed a furniture store during protests over a police shooting in Kenosha in 2020. The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported that U.S. District Judge J.P. Stadtmueller sentenced 23-year-old Devon Vaughn on Thursday.

New firehouse project could top $9.5 million for Union Grove-Yorkville taxpayers

Calling the nearly 50-year-old home of the Union Grove-Yorkville Fire Department outdated, the two neighboring communities are considering spending more than $9 million to build a new fire station. The project calls for replacing the existing firehouse with a new facility three times its size. It would be funded jointly by Union Grove and Yorkville taxpayers, although a voter referendum might be required in either or both villages.
