Firefighters in Brown County saved two dogs after responding to a structure fire on Wednesday evening. According to a release from the Green Bay Metro Fire Department, around 8:15 p.m., dispatch received a report of a passerby that heard the fire alarms going off inside the building in the Village of Allouez.

The Madison Fire Department has battery safety reminders after a fire caused an evacuation at a UW-Madison residence hall Tuesday evening. Spokesperson Cynthia Schuster said the fire department responded to Cole Hall around 7:30 p.m. for a report of a battery fire in a dorm room. When firefighters arrived, a resident had already used a fire extinguisher from the common hallway to put out the fire.

One person died in a fire in the Village of Wausaukee Monday night. Dispatchers were notified of a fire at an apartment building on Elizabeth Street at about 9:16 p.m. “The first thing was to evacuate and make sure everybody is evacuated from the other apartments. People were scattered all over,” Wausaukee Fire Chief Eric Edelbeck said.

A 16-year-old boy was injured Tuesday night during a house fire in the Sunland-Tujunga area, authorities said. The fire was reported at around 9:16 p.m. at the home on Sherman Grove Avenue. Firefighter Jason Burns appreciates the attention that firefighting foam has received recently because long term exposure to it has been linked to cancer. A fire in the kitchen at Onalaska's St. Paul Lutheran School showed the value of practicing fire drills according to a the Onalaska Fire Department.
