Crews respond to vehicle fire in Sparta area

No one is injured after a fire destroyed a vehicle in the Town of Leon. The vehicle caught fire while in the woods, just a mile off Kale road. “The only way to access the fire was with four wheel drive and our all wheel drive engine. Once we finally got to the vehicle it was fully engulfed– the occupants of the vehicle were out in the woods and were going to do some wood cutting,” Sparta Fire Chief Mike Arnold said.

'You never know what you’re going to get into': Madison firefighter reminisces and retires after 29 years

Long-time Madison Fire Department member and leader John Fleming retired after 29 years of service this month. The department said Fleming was inspired to join the profession after watching his father and other family friends enjoy the career. According to the fire department, after Fleming graduated from the recruit academy in 1994, he was assigned to Fire Station 9.

Howard, Suamico Fire Departments receive grant to train high school students

Police department in Florida trains firefighters to spot human trafficking at airport

Janesville kitchen fire sends 1 to hospital

The Janesville Fire Department responded to a residential fire Wednesday that sent someone to the hospital. Crews battle fire at Macht Village Offices in Brown County

West Salem firefighters bartend for School District's Random Acts of Kindness fund

West Salem firefighters are trading fire hoses for cocktail shakers– and they’re doing it to benefit the kids. The volunteer fire staff worked behind the Westview Inn bar between 4:30 and 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Eau Claire and Altoona Fire Departments could merge in response to rapid population growth
