Milwaukee fire, police chiefs hold news conference about fatal fire

Milwaukee's fire and police chiefs scheduled a Wednesday news conference to shed more light on the investigation into the death of a man whose body was found after a fire near S. Layton Bouelvard and W. Greenfield Avenue. The medical examiner identified the man as Grant Forbes, 70. The medical examiner's report says his death was accidental.

Small kitchen fire brings Onalaska Fire Department to St. Paul's Lutheran School

A fire in the kitchen at Onalaska's St. Paul Lutheran School showed the value of practicing fire drills according to a the Onalaska Fire Department. They were called to the school at 11:30 a.m. Monday morning for a fire alarm triggered by a stove fire, said Lt. Jeremy Southworth. By the time crews arrived about four minutes later, the school was being evacuated.

Oak Creek apartment fire; 1 suffered minor injuries

Firefighters on Monday night, Jan. 23 responded to the scene of an apartment fire near 20th Street and Timber Ridge Lane in Oak Creek. The call came in around 9:50 p.m. Upon arrival, crews reported fire and smoke showing from a lower-level apartment. The fire was placed under control and completely extinguished within 15 minutes of arrival by the fire department.

'Keeping the Heart Red' for American Heart Month being recognized by the Stevens Point Fire Department & Portage County Ambulance

Both departments will be working together to bring awareness to a heart-healthy lifestyle. Body cam video shows Oregon crew fighting fire reportedly caused by extension cord

A few weekend fires are bringing an advisory from Rural Metro Fire (RMF) in Josephine County. It says a fire destroyed a shop and pickup early Monday morning in the 200 block of Teel Lane in the New Hope area southwest of Grants Pass. It says though no injuries were reported, the fire is one of three fires in three days involving extension cords running to vehicles.

EMS in Central Texas training bar owners to stop bleeding during mass casualty events

Austin-Travis County EMS and firefighters explained how to help save a life during mass casualty situations through the "Stop The Bleed" course on Monday. According to the Gun Violence Archive, last year, the U.S. saw more mass shootings than days, with 647 occurrences. Its data also shows this year we've seen nearly 40 mass shooting before January is over.

Fire in Manitowoc prompts response from multiple engines

Multiple engines in Manitowoc County responded to a late-night fire on Sunday in the City of Manitowoc. According to a Facebook post by the Manitowoc Fire & Rescue Department, at 11:16 p.m., firefighters were sent to the 800 block of North 10th Street for a report of a structure fire. The first fire crews to arrive on the scene noted flames coming from the structure’s second floor.

One person in hospital after fire in Minocqua apartment building

One person is in the hospital after an overnight fire in Minocqua. According to reporting from the Lakeland Times, it happened at the Coach House Apartments on Oneida Street. Authorities say residents in the upstairs apartments were evacuated, but police had to rescue one person, who was taken to the hospital and treated for burns.

Indiana fire chief celebrates 60 years of service

Pennsylvania volunteer fire department gets 1938 fire engine returned after over 50 years

The Conway Volunteer Fire Department has its 1938 Darley Fire Engine returned to its station on Sunday after being without it for more than 50 years. The fire chief tells KDKA that the truck was donated in the 1970's when it was replaced with a newer truck.

Area firefighters take traffic management course in Arbor Vitae

On Saturday, the Arbor Vitae Fire/ Rescue Department hosted a traffic management training course for area firefighters. Arbor Vitae firefighter Jeff Biertzer presented the course to a group of thirty men and women. Biertzer says that knowing how to manage traffic in emergencies is becoming an important role for area fire departments, and that partnership between them and police is crucial in clearing a scene.

Pine River Fire Department puts new equipment into service

The Pine River Fire Department today put into service some new gear which will be a critical part in continuing to serve their community. FEMA paid for the majority of the cost for the replacement of the firefighters personal protective gear, a new cascade system, and 12 air packs. The Federal agency also provided for a pack known as an RIT system, which is used to help rescue a firefighter who may be lost or trapped inside of a burning structure.

Madison Fire Department introduces 2 new ladder trucks

Two new ladder trucks have hit Madison's streets. The City of Madison Fire Department added Ladder 2 in December and Ladder 6 this week. Both are 100 feet long, weigh over 39 tons — roughly equivalent to three African elephants — and can reach a speed of 65 mph. Their fire pumps can pump at about 1,500 gallons a minute.
