New mural in Madison to recognize firefighters' work during pandemic

A permanent thank you to firefighters who have given their all during the pandemic will soon grace the wall of Madison Fire Station 10. That thank you is a mural made by Developing Artists, Murals and Alliances (or DAMA). Veronica Figueroa, Executive Director of DAMA, helped design the mural with input from community members and first responders.

Monroe County: Fort McCoy firefighters hold ice rescue diving training at frozen-over installation lake

One by one, firefighters donned their dry suits and diving equipment and slipped below the ice of Big Sandy Lake on Jan. 11 to practice rescuing a victim during ice rescue training for the Fort McCoy Directorate of Emergency Services Fire Department dive team. Members of fire department’s dive team spent most of the day at the lake practicing various scenarios and honing their ice diving skills as part of an annual requirement to not only refresh skills but also maintain certifications, said Assistant Fire Chief Hunter Young.

Update: Watertown fatal fire cause 'undetermined;' no suspicious activity

VIDEO: 2 displaced after multiple crews battle South Carolina house fire

Crews are battling a house fire in Surfside Beach Tuesday morning. 2022 marks the busiest year in Wausau Fire Department history

The Wausau Fire Department received 6,686 calls in 2022 which is about 200 calls less than the previous year, but the department is busier than ever. “The Wausau Fire Department in 2022 had the busiest year in history,” said Chief Bob Barteck, Wausau Fire Department. ‘Decon Kits’ hope to help prevent cancer in Alabama firefighters

VIDEO: January is firefighter cancer awareness month. It’s a time for departments and advocates to raise awareness about the ongoing occupational hazards that firefighters face every day. California: Suspect Steals Ambulance in San Francisco, Abandons it in Oakland

VIDEO: Police are searching for a suspect who stole an ambulance in San Francisco Monday night. This all happened when paramedics were in the process of brining a patient to the ambulance in the area of 47th Avenue and Irving Street at 6:42 p.m. The California Highway Patrol was able to locate the ambulance using GPS and pursued it through San Mateo and Alameda counties before it got onto city streets in Oakland, the San Francisco Fire Department said.

Longtime firefighter dedicated to telling the story of the Denver Fire Department

5 displaced after bathroom exhaust fan causes fire in Sun Prairie townhouse

A neighbor's quick thinking limited the damage to a Sun Prairie townhouse after an attic fire.
